Are you watching this, America? If you want to be competitive at World Cups, start building trails like this at your bike parks. Big jumps and flow are sick and all, but we need more steep, fast, techy and tight.

In the angling world, Shimano has what they call "DC" braking for baitcaster reels. It's basically a tiny magnetic power generator that also uses the magnets to to activate braking during a cast (to control line speed.) You can watch a short youtube ... more »

As an artist, I can tell you that your statement is both true, and false. Yes, some people have a greater combination of natural ability and practice than others, and given the same paintbrush they will always create a more pleasing picture. But, not all paintbrushes are the same, and low quality paintbrushes, or even high quality brushes with the wrong construction make it harder or even impossible to take the image from the mind and put it on canvas.

Same thing applies to bikes, especially when loosing even one second is the difference between winning a race and missing the podium entirely and therefore missing out on that nice bonus check from the sponsors and UCI.

Everything about this hits home for me. My kids are the best things to have happened in my life the last 10 years. Marrying my wife is the only thing that tops 'em.

Visionary marketing does lead the market because visionary marketers understand the true needs of the market. They see an unspoken and unfilled or unsatisfactorily filled demand in the market. Back in Henry Ford's day, I bet most people didn't even say ... more »

No industry in the world makes a change before the market has a demand for that change. If a large enough piece of the market wants bikes that are durable, user-friendly and easily repaired then some company in the industry will do it. If a bike like ... more »

I wonder if there are so few rumors due to most teams deciding the re-sign their current racers. Perhaps with how crazy the supply chains have been, they don't want any more "uncertainty" by signing new racers.

That was the most exciting end to the Women's season I have ever seen! And the Men's was just as exciting as the end to the 2019 season, had us on the edge of our seats over here! MTB DH really is the best sport in the world.

According to thier website, the PBO spokes are a "Flexible High-strength Zylon Fiber." Basically something similar to a small diameter rope. I've heard good things about them, but I haven't had the chance to try them myself.

Even with the same reach, the slacker head tube angle of the dh bike will put the front wheel farther away than and enduro bike's wheel, which could make the dh bike feel bigger. And if the dh bike has more stack, the handlebars could be farther away from the bb on the dh bike than the enduro bike, which will definitely feel bigger.

If you buy consumer direct, "...you're indirectly telling a bike shop to pound sand..."
Well, by selling a low spec bike for $6,699 and the high spec bike for $13,099 (like the new Pivot Firebird) bike shop manufacturers are telling new, low income and young riders to pound sand. And any shop that won't work on a bike because "it's consumer direct" or "we don't carry that brand" deserve to go the way of the T-rex.

I had been wanting to get a new bike for a few years leading up to the pandemic, but the money just wasn't there. Last summer I decided the only way to raise the cash was to sell both of the bike I currently had. They haven't really sold according to plan, and other life expenses kept eating the money I was raising from selling the bike parts.

Then this spring with with rumors of huge lead times and increasing prices, I decided that if I wanted to have a bike to ride at all,I needed to buy sooner or have to wait until much later. With a combination of stimulus money, tax return and credit card, I had enough to get a RM Altitude A50 that was in stock at a dealer in a neighboring county.

Now I'm just waiting for a new shock pump (my old one croaked) so i can finish setting the bike up before it's maiden ride.
