It will be very interesting to see how this bike does in the market. In a way it's like a step back (or two) in terms of having a bike that is so imbalanced on the "going down" side of mountain bike performance. One would think the days are gone of "requiring" the rider to flip the switch, scoot to the very end of the saddle and WRESTLE with the bike up the hill...? (seems so 2008?) course I'd have no problem believing nothing made in 2008 short of a full on DH bike could match the downhill performance this probably has. (probably many full on 2008 DH bikes still wouldn't match it?) It's probably a no brainer to have such a bike available to your Enduro race team. (of which Intense doesn't even have?) But seems a bit much to live with most of the time.

It might set their "BIG enduro" bike apart from others. But my .02 is that it's probably not the best sales idea. It would be one thing if Enduro racing was based off of production class bikes and they either "SOLD" it as a full on race bike or they couldn't race it. But I think it would have been a much better bike from a customer perspective if it would have had a better climb/decend balance like a Nomad, or at least not any more DH orientated than the latest Slayer. (which maybe the new Nomad will follow?) AND THEN offer "RACE KITS" with different links and shock tunes to set it up like this...

Course I'm sure PUSH is SUPER HAPPY about this bike and can't wait to "fix it" for more everyday use. (actually, now that I think of it this is probably just a huge conspiracy to sell more elevensix's... ) smile

I recommend cheap 20-30 dollar Plantronics bluetooth headset from Walmart, etc. They last 9-12 hours!!! (the last hour and a half they will keep telling you the battery is about to go, but it keeps going another hour plus!) They are cheap enough that if you spill it's no big deal if it gets busted. It has a silly plastic loop to wrap around your ear that's good for more "vigorous" rides. But most of the time i don't even use it on my bike. (running you have to use it or it will fall out) For sure without the loop it's fallen out once or twice, but dust it off and put it back and good...

Anyway, the biggest reason I'm chiming in is hat for 20-30 bucks you get 9-12 hours! I purchased a 150 dollar headset and it barely did 5 hours...??? WTF...

ALSO, the reason I'm chiming in is because your MUCH MUCH MUCH safer out on the trail with only one ear having something stuck inside it blocking ambient noise.

Two ear buds is pretty dumb, and if you lower the volume to be safe then when you hit a bunch of babyhead rocks your not going to be able to hear your music/book/news/etc.... And my experiance with only wearing one side of connected wireless headphones is that sooner or later the "free" side pulls the other side out of your ear and it's annoying...

whatever, I'd buy it just because it's a GT Pantera. LOVED that bike back in the day...

Wish the high end model was brushed aluminum. Then it would be perfect!!!

Nice looking bike, but the geo listed on their website makes the bike seem about 3-4 years out of sync with the rest of the industry? 67.5 headtube angle on a 160 bike? 73.5 seat angle, mehhhh. But a 451 reach on an XL??? NOT!

Added a comment about feature Legitimizing the Shop | Ghost Bikes and REI 9/19/2016 10:25 PM

True, at the beginning of summer I was told by Ghost if I wanted to order a Path Riot I could talk to my local REI store manager and they should be able to order most anything from Ghost for me. But I'd be buying sight unseen, no test/fit, etc. That was too much money to commit to on an unknown brand.

Also REI's website has nothing on Geometry, the images of several of the bikes were photoshop jobs that didn't always match up to what the limited spec info said. So even though they do (at least did have more of a sellection) offer a few longer travel and higher end models to order. It still felt like taking an unnecessary plunge when I could go down to several other shops and at least they usually have mediums in stock to check out a bike in person before throwing down the cash!

The flip side is you get your standard 10% dividend back at the end of the year if you buy it new. So it does make for a decent deal...?

What the article didn't mention is that most REI stores don't have the long travel or the expensive models.

So the Django is designed for the rider who equally likes to climb and descend, but with more travel. But the Marshall is for people who are more descending-oriented, with less travel and a plus tire option. But the geo between the two bikes is really close. So close that it's surprising they...more

Hoe come neither of the "down" mid jump/drop pictures show riders with chin bars on??? Wasn't that the point?

I love how they said Sam was going to be capable of taking some sort of "fight to Richie", I love Sam Hill but he beat the guy on 1 stage and by 1 second at that. Richie is unbeatable!
