Sounds like most of you could just buy a geometron and be good?

either their websites changed, or all that stuff about being able to customize everything is pretty misleading. On the cheapest build you can upgrade the dropper and add pedals. Then you can't upgrade the dropper or change much of anything else but add pedals until the most expensive build where there is a further Enve wheel upgrade option. For sure the 200 upgrade on the X2 and Grip fox factory suspension is a good value. (and if that upgrade was available on the lower end builds that would be worth talking about!) But when your close to spending 7 grand you gotta wonder about going mail order? That's near 2 grand more than the highest end Capra29 with a pretty similar build) For sure the reviews so far have been good, but it's not like Ferrazi has a history with high end products or podiums to draw confidence from...?

Also, again so far there are positive tests, but even though they've gone somewhat "Pole" in some of the geometry aspects. They have some really short cockpit/EFF numbers. Granted that gives you shorter overall wheelbases. But moving my hand position 2 inches backwards seems like your weight wouldn't be balanced/spread out enough? And then no test ride to try that odd geo out makes it hard to commit. Though at least they have the 30 day return which is very cool. (just scary without history?)

AND, no fair that they got Black factory fox, but went red with RS on the affordable builds! smile

Cool looking bike. That said, I don't feel the value is super strong here. Part of this may be due to how the company is spec'ing the bike. Don't get me wrong, carbon frame, carbon wheels, good looking geometry and good suspension for around $5K is cool, but Specialized is doing...more

How about pay the riders and diggers well, make sure they're covered from an insurance perspective and then just let them ride and let them decide who the winner is. I have feeling if someone threw down hugely the vote would land on the right person. The dudes riding there are the ones that know...more

My opinion; DH WC, speed, smooth, etc. already have competitive venue's. Slope style, pure trick, flow, jump lines already have competitive venue's. If those riders want to compete at Rampage that's great, but SCORING at Rampage should be based on OG Rampage Freeride... Keep Rampage core, there are all kinds of set course competitions for other skill sets to be shown off.

I do think there are a lot of great idea's that could help improve Rampage, and I hope they are listening. But I don't agree with limiting riders creativity, or "forcing" riders to agree on one creative line. The "free" in freeride, DUH... smile jkn

If there are three (or four) main elements to the competition, make them all co-equal, and have a "tech" winner, a "drops" winner, and a tricks winner, with Brendan, Lacondeguy, and Rheeder winning each of these in 2018, for instance, then have the overall winner, Rheeder, who combines all three....more

Establishing the "Line Score" prior to the riding is the best idea I've heard (Don't they do this with diving?)

This does two things:
1) You could have a "Best Dig" award for the highest line score with prize money that goes to the Rider's dig crew, who clearly put in so much work to make Rampage...more

I really really really do not like the idea of constricting the individual rider/builder creativity. If I think back over the years about what things were the most disappointing with Rampage, most of it comes down to the judging, practice time, and all the unfinished business. The recurring themes...more

Taking away (most of) the riders' creativity and vision in putting together the lines would ruin everything that's awesome about Rampage.

At the end of the day, I don't really care who won or who should have one. I'm just there to watch a bunch of guys throw down. And they did that. Every single...more

Late to the party, but I agree with the rest of the world, brendog was clearly robbed and the top 3 seemed right. There is always room to improve and trying to make the judging better is definitely something I agree with, but blowing up the current format because we all thought one run was better,...more

5 Judges all isolated from each other. I head judge (Who does not do actual scoring but makes sure judges get all the info they need in terms of replays, etc and is communicating judging criteria to judges and riders, basically making sure his judges can do the best job possible)

I am interested to how these bars may provide $300 (+/-) more performance than the best possible carbon bars out there.

Would be nice to see est. "new" build costs to go along with weight. (the Yeti wins the weight war, but how much more did it cost to win?)

Also, would be great if you picked two bikes where you had a Vital tester near who was able to ride and compare them both...?
