Added reply in a thread Do tire inserts mean it's time to rethink tire design? 11/16/2017 12:21 PM

I still think the rim profile needs to change. We are basically using a wider version of something designed to be ridden in roads or gravel, with narrower tires, higher pressures and significantly smaller lateral loads. The MTB tires and rims should ... more »

Sorry about the harshness. It wasn't directed at you, but at the Industry as a whole. I'm still believing paper sidewalls and foam inserts can't be compared to a proper rim/tire interface and a meaty, supportive carcass. Many supposedly tubeless compatible ... more »

So we are trying to get the lightest tires and rims and then putting ~300 grams of cheap foam inside, happy to pay a ton of money for it, reaching weights above the ones of a full DH tire/rim combo, and that's supposed to be called "groundbreaking"? ... more »

Down here in Argentina we simply call them "automáticos". Say that to any biker and they'll know you're talking about pedals.

They lost their tilting platform patent, and then resorted to simpler, cheaper way to manufacture pedals. And then they started marketing it as an improvement.

Shimano has been lowering the bar with respect to their platform SPD pedals for a long time now. The best thing about them used to be the pedal pivoting with respect to the cage, which always left the engaging mechanism ready to receive the cleat. Not they just add more metal to the pedal and call the day off.

Yup, you are right. Cairns asks for a pedal friendly bike, as the South Africa track. This might be just the Enduro LT model with a dual crown fork.

A "pedal mode" shock in a bike with a dual link setup is something I'll always be intrigued about. Shouldn't the anti-squat built in the system be enough to warrant good pedaling characteristics?

This. The name came from Cedric Gracia's PR firm, called Furious Agency. I guess the name stuck even after he left Commencal.

EDIT: I just realized they lost the "ç" in Commençal, and replaced it with the more common "c". Didn't see that coming.
