I cant wait to see Payet on that 29er - the guy is an animal and with a big bike there is no doubt he will go faster. I should have added him to the forum comments about potential new winners in 2018...oh hang maybe i did already.

Reply to Crystal Ball: Who will be the next DH Winner? Nerd Alert. 1/2/2018 4:38 PM

Vergier has to win one very soon surely! Jack Moir is probably a good bet too. As somewhat of an outside chance I think we could see Florent Payet win one, he has been so close so many times, undoubtedly has the speed and is on a bike that fits him finally. ... more »

Reply to Is straighter and faster really that bad for a World Cup track? 1/17/2017 6:34 PM

Surely accessibility and viewability is important though? If all we did was please the riders but that reduced exposure and sponsorship and therefore their pay- would they be satisfied then? I cant help but feel that the majority of those that are being ... more »

A top tier WC DH rider is worth more to a brand than a top tier EWS rider. A top tier DH racer makes me more willing to buy any brands bikes, but this isnt a discussion about marketing strategies. You dont lust after the riding you normally do most of ... more »

Reply to 2016 Leogang World Cup Thread 6/10/2016 4:51 PM

Elite level racers are some of the biggest whingers Ive ever come across in my experience. Being a great racer means being great across lots of different types of tracks. Ive been to Leogang and it is well and truly steep enough. So it isnt a flow trail ... more »

I doubt it, an average result in the EWS gets almost no coverage. Hell, a good result gets almost no coverage! Long bow to say he would sell more, sure the bikes are more similar to the mass market but Id get pretty excited to ride the trail bike that ... more »

I dont think its a consensus, just a few trolls. To say he is past it is naive at a minimum. The facts speak for for themselves.

Id bet itd because they want the same revenue from the event, no terrible agenda. Fewer riders means less revenue so jack up entry and you can provide the same services and not lose any money. Its what most organisations would do.

I agree, is there any information on how many they will allow in now?

Drinking the kool aid? When you say they descend like downhill bikes a few years back I assume you mean like maybe ten? The whole "it descends like a DH bike" is written by a) marketing people, and b) people that havent ridden a DH bike for a while, ... more »

Yeah I guess you're right, you'd get much coverage with Maes than with the athertons, and way better exposure through ews than wc dh (rolls eyes). Maes would be cheaper, ill give you that. Athertons would cost a lot, there is a reason for that.

I have a friend who knows Fearon and they say he is very loyal to Kona and has chosen to stick with them in the past, even though he has had better offers from other players....certainly he seems pretty happy there
