Reply to Why are so many "MTBers" A*holes when new things happen? 11/15/2019 10:00 AM

Judging things negatively without sufficient fact/evidence, instead using imagination, feelings, emotions (e.g. fear) seems to be the most frustrating thing about these a-holes. I do wonder how many valuable resources (e.g. time) are wasted catering ... more »

TPL Racing, well, at least your post serves as motivation to not get concussed. Anyone able to translate its meaning? Is it in response to my post, pointing out the weakness/compromise in the stage and proframe? Reminds me that I've had people argue ... more »

For a tolerant society to survive, the tolerant must be intolerant of intolerance itself. There's a problem for a tolerant society when people with intolerant opinions, based off of fear and other irrational things, are using them as the basis for a ... more »

The TLD Stage was marketed on review sites and stores claiming "EPP-lined chinbar for multiple impacts". Seems to be too brittle to do that. My chinbar fractured when I fell into weeds on the side of the trail (moderately downsloped and the ... more »

Gator, does your Bell SuperDH "creak"? As in, sounds like the liner is rubbing against the foam noises?

What position are you using when you're measuring? I personally like the "Universal Athletic Position", which is like a partial squat, that follows the heavy-feet and light-hands riding style, and what I base my sweet spot balance on.

Is there an echo chamber here? I've been preaching that all along. Got even more time on my proto and only more convinced. Forbidden and Privateer already putting things into commercial production. Plenty more room to go for other brands to consider ... more »

What's awesome mean? To me, that would be meeting all my expectations, which are many: - doesn't slip excessively when climbing out of the saddle - doesn't require a lot speed or perfectly timed/executed manuals to ride drops - doesn't get excessively ... more »

You trust lightweight FF helmets to offer similar protection? Crash reports on the chinbar made me lose confidence in the TLD Stage and Fox Proframe specifically. The Proframe broke at the seam on the side and got pushed in to injure the rider's face ... more »

Rather have a chin bar, preferably one with an open mouth port so I can actually breathe without restriction, and one that's tougher than the Proframe and Stage's.

Would be a plus if they did something to combat wind noise.

BTW, in another post, I posted a table that suggested that with the usual sizing method of increasing FC by ~20mm per size through reach, I'd generalize the CS should grow by 4.5mm to balance that out to have similar weight bias. That's not extreme, ... more »

In terms of scaling, I was considering how well it applies to NORBA XC geo ~42 inch wheelbase (1050mm in med) and smaller (DJ, trials, road), and Geometron geo 1325mm wheelbase and bigger. I was afraid that people would "round" the ratio to fewer digits. ... more »

Not only that, but I'd go as far as arguing that short CS and short wheelbases are more suited to smaller wheels, since there's a synergy for where/how they likely to be ridden (tight techy trails). I still keep a 2013 Stumpjumper FSR EVO in my quiver, ... more »

Guessing they're saying it's a bad idea if you're going 27.5 to mixed. Not much to F up if you go 29 to mixed. I'm picturing the Kona Process 153 29 in med as a good candidate, that fits your specs.
