Okay, I’m 5 rides in and I can say it’s super crisp & precise. It’s a little weird to not get that tactile click from the controller but man is it fast. I realized I could push the controller from the lever side to upshift, sort of like the outboard shimano paddle, which is super convenient. I’m still playing with the controller position on the bars but so far I’m liking the system a lot.

Didn't Chris King just announce their headsets (and all their parts) are lifetime guaranteed? And it it covers parts already purchased...unlike Cane Creek saying only the headsets sold after August 28 2019. No thanks.

Then there is the brand that no one likes to talk about...Evil, with their low shock placement since forever.

Fair point, a lot of my sentiment is based around the fact my Eagle stuff has been damn near invisible (I don't think about it - it just plain works) to me. That said, it does seem picky with respect to b-tension, and of course if something gets "beat up" all bets are off to whether or not you can keep it running smoothly. I'm not sure I'd want to vouch for a beat up anything in the bike world!

These types of debates quickly devolve into Chevy vs Ford which was never my intent.

My point was to say "is this really a 5 star product"? I say no, others disagree, welcome to the internet

I also am coming from a place of "holy moly its a good time to be a bike rider". The top end offerings are failing to impress compared to the more value oriented stuff, and that's a good thing. My race bike is no longer a top shelf dream machine but has 99% the performance of a $10K super bike at a fraction that cost.

There was an era where buying XTR was so.much.better. I'm just not sure that era persists beyond the cognitive bias we have toward it. Again, I am saying this as a good thing...

Both the Factory and Performance 36s use the same air springs so this is targeted as an improvement to either fork. No issues swapping back to an OEM air spring. Lots of people started off with Pikes with Luftkappes installed and then replaced it with the 2019 debonair spring when it came out (you get the larger neg air chamber without the reduced pos air chamber volume which means the base spring tune is less progressive. Can always add tokens if you wanted more progressivity like with the luftkappe but you are not forced into it).

I have about a year on a Luftkappe and dig it. The review sums up the benefits pretty nicely so I'll add some additional observations.
- The mid-stroke is for riders who like a bit of platform to push on in turns, berms, and jumps.
- The previous hyperactivity of the fork moves from the stock mid-stroke to the initial stroke, and it is hyper and sucks up all the smaller bits of the trail. Kind of like getting really low in tire air pressure. It just sucks bits up.
- There is now a wide range of air pressure that is usable. I tried stupid low pressure and the mid-stroke still held up the fork nicely. You can now set the pressure more to your liking rather than to solve issues.
- That supportive mid-stroke becomes firm at high speed in bigger chunk, I feel it on very fast, longer, rougher downhills. It pushes pack. This is a byproduct of having more spring in that mid-stroke. This is something to consider. Or maybe it is the high-speed compression circuit kicking in?
- The fork sags in further. What this means; I over-forked my bike by 10mm, the new spring gobbled up that 10mm when I sit on it. But that seems to be just a numbers thing as performance in that initial stoke is freaking awesome.
- I think I bottomed out once (with no tokens). All rides I am left with 10-20mm of unused travel. I'm ok with this, I like to preserve the geometry of the bike in Oh Shit moments. It might be me running a touch higher pressure. Or maybe it is the high-speed compression circuit kicking in?

It's a perfect fit for my solid mid-stroke 5010. It sucks things up, while still getting boosty and I always know where my bike is in space so I can purely focus on playing with the trail.

I wish everyone who sees these videos had the opportunity to spend a little time with Braydon. I’ve spent more than 27 years in the bike industry, and have met few people with the sheer talent, enthusiasm, kindness, and generosity that he has. Braydon really is one of he best of us, and we;re so stoked that he’s in our community.

I second your opinion. Guys like Braydon inspired me to go out and just ride my damn bike. Big fan of Semenuk tho, but his level of riding is too much for weekend warriors like me. Haha.

I would add that myself and a few friends all noticed that TLD shorts sizing changed around 2016, we all bought a second pair of shorts (skyline I think), after loving the fit of the 2014-2015 ones and found the newer ones to be 1-2 sizes too big :/
