Interesting. 30t was the smallest I ran. I went from a 30 to a 32 and noticed a slight improvement, then bought a 34 steel ring to see if it was again better- it was. Are you changing chain length when moving chainrings? Might be derailleur clutch/cage angle related...

Thanks so much for the opportunity to chat Spomer. I’m so sorry for all you have gone through as well and I appreciate you being willing to share. I hope that people are able to come away from this with the understanding that we are all in the midst of such a complex situation and at the end of the day we should try to treat each other with compassion and understanding. Many of us have different life, political, and religious beliefs and that’s one of the things that makes the world so special. As long as we are able to respect each other’s personal beliefs and treat one another with some form of respect then we will keep marching together towards progress.
My position this whole time has been one of raising awareness for those who have been effected and hoping to raise the question of “what happens when you do your part for society’s good and it goes wrong?” Is civic duty a two way street or is it one of those things we just ignore and sweep aside?
As people listening will hopefully see, I’m not politically affiliated or motivated, I have no financial interest in this issue, and I’m not deadest on everything I say being right. I’m just a guy who was thrust into a difficult situation, and while falling into that pit I discovered 10’s of thousands of other people trapped at the bottom. I tried to do my best to speak out and raise awareness at the expense of my own personal health and mental well being so some of them might be able to get help. I’m sure I have made some mistakes along the way, but I was always operating out of a place of compassion and never trying to manipulate or control others.
I wanna just say a huge thank you to everyone who listens and I hope no one ever has to experience the pain of loss from a disease like Covid or from anything else. Sorry for bringing a non bike issue to the website, we were really torn but enough people asked for it and we decided to give it a shot. Much love to the vital crew ❤️

Nice work- loving the detail in this series!
Found similar results running bigger chainrings (34t vs 32t vs 30t) on a Commencal Meta AM... Made a small but noticeable difference- better bump absorption, less pedal kickback also worse pedal bob due to less antisquat.

Why oh why are Transition using the crap Acros headsets. The amount of times I've worked on a bike (ex bike shop mechanic) with internal routing and found a rusted BB due to water ingress is laughable.

Looking forward to the day when mountain bike companies admit running cables through the headset bearings was laughably stupid and go back to cable routing that doesn't lock customers into proprietary headsets and higher maintenance costs. But unfortunately we probably have a rough few years ahead of us as companies try to push this bullshit. I thought Transition was better than that.

Well, as a "diehard" Transition fan, looks like I'll be on to new brands in the near future. Super bummed as I know many of the Transition crew. Didn't think this would happen, at least so soon. Also, from my experience in the environmental science world, MOST trails that are hard to get to on federal land are NON Motorized, which includes E-bikes. So, out to ride moto trails then? Lame. Many of my buddies are riding steel full squish brands built here in the US. I know where I will be looking to buy when it's time for another bike. Times, they are a changing

As a Spur owner, and potentially a Spire as well, I'm sad to see Transition on the E-bike train. Especially since their release video for the Spur had a whole Tongue in Cheek skit poking fun at E-bikes.

Unfortunate that mtb's are contributing towards this

Sure for ol' folks, those with health issues, or commuters that replace their cars with a ebike makes sense. For the rest, just pedal your damn bike. Greed for "more laps in less time" not a great thing for our future generations.

Wow. Going through the east coast bike possibilities in my head for Neko, FTW came up as a “man, that would rule but obviously would never happen.” This is seriously awesome. Best of luck Neko and Frank.
