They say "Even if this is only the beginning, it has allowed us to confirm new kinematics and geometry principles."
Oh yeah, looks reeaaall good...
I do! After every ride, I brush off the dust/dirt with a fine brush/toothbrush. Then I smear a drop or two of Fork Boost about 1/3 from the seal on each stanchion and compress the fork a few times. Then I wipe clean, cycle again, wipe clean again to ... more »
@lkubica I'm running a Cane Creek Valt progressive coil on mine, which is supposed to give like 15-20% progression, which gets the '19-20 Meta to around 30% total (kinematicss + spring). For me at 180lbs it's the perfect setup. That's an idea if you ... more »
As a clevis-driven-shock bike owner (Commencal Meta AM '20), I have done quite a bit of research before fitting a coil shock on my bike. Commencal used the Fox and Rock Shox coil shocks stock on the top-end '19 builds, but none in 2020. Maybe because ... more »
I thought Pierron's head tube angle looked steep, and by my Photoshop measurements (after leveling the wheels), it looks like it's 64.0 vs 62.2 on Coulanges' bike (which looked like the slackest of the bunch). I don't know if that's relevant or not for

Neko.... doing what we all wished all company's did and feeding the bike nerds proper. He's doing what we already want in the forum and giving it to us right to the veins. Thank you sir, you're doing it right.
Interesting. 30t was the smallest I ran. I went from a 30 to a 32 and noticed a slight improvement, then bought a 34 steel ring to see if it was again better- it was. Are you changing chain length when moving chainrings? Might be derailleur clutch/cage angle...more
Yeah I put on a new chain and sized it properly when I installed the 28t. Same rear derailleur, same clutch adjustment, etc. I'm tempted to try a 34t now just to feel the difference. Cheers!

@sspomer Thank you guys for sharing a calm and honest conversation. Everybody’s lived experiences during the last couple years is valid and deserves discussion, not censorship.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to chat Spomer. I’m so sorry for all you have gone through as well and I appreciate you being willing to share. I hope that people are able to come away from this with the understanding that we are all in the midst of such a complex situation and at the end of the day...more
Sorry for derailing, but @Dave_Camp I'm curious to see if you've tried a 28t on the Meta AM? I was running a 30t before and would hear/feel the rear derailleur clunking from time to time (because of the kickback?), but since running the 28t ('20 Meta Am) it feels better and I haven't felt/heard the same noise (everything else is the same as the previous year).

Thanks Neko! Keep those videos coming! It seems like you a fertile phase for experimentation in the DH world, which is very entertaining for us bike geeks. Content like this keeps the flame and the stoke alive. Cheers and all the best for Lourdes this weekend!

Nice work- loving the detail in this series!
Found similar results running bigger chainrings (34t vs 32t vs 30t) on a Commencal Meta AM... Made a small but noticeable difference- better bump absorption, less pedal kickback also worse pedal bob due to less...more
Is that a proto TRP or E Thirteen drivetrain too ? I don't recall seeing those cranks anywhere yet.
Why oh why are Transition using the crap Acros headsets. The amount of times I've worked on a bike (ex bike shop mechanic) with internal routing and found a rusted BB due to water ingress is laughable.
Looking forward to the day when mountain bike companies admit running cables through the headset bearings was laughably stupid and go back to cable routing that doesn't lock customers into proprietary headsets and higher maintenance costs. But unfortunately we probably have a rough few years ahead of us as companies...more
Well, as a "diehard" Transition fan, looks like I'll be on to new brands in the near future. Super bummed as I know many of the Transition crew. Didn't think this would happen, at least so soon. Also, from my experience in the environmental science world, MOST trails that are hard to get to on federal land are NON...more
