do the chainring splines on the cranks force the chainring graphics to be upside down when the right crank is forward?

Insert _______ company here. Everytime I see an ebike edit like this they use some ripper, with gobs of style stick them on some ebike and their energy/style looks like it’s zapped from them as fast as the stupid graphics put in the add.

High end parts are high end parts. Like the guy said above, if you're a guy who likes high end bikes, you probably won't be thrilled with a low end DH rig. When you get your low end pig and pick it up for the first time, especially compared to your high ... more »

@anotherbikeguy im curious what bike brands you are dealing with. There are so many bikes that come shipped from the factory as a frame, wheels, and a bin of parts. To me, this argument of so many bikes from big brands, being as ride ready as a yt or canyon is absurd. Are you talking about low end giant 9er hardtails that come mostly assembled, or high end shredders comporable to the torque. Yeti and devinci are prime examples of high end bikes that are absolutely no go to send to the general public for assembly. These come as a frame and a bin of parts to build. No, I don’t have a ton of experience with a wide array of brands. But, the nice trail rippers that I have personally worked with, and bikes sold by neighbor shops I chat with, more or less, come completely unassbled. Nice parts typically don’t take kindly to being shipped attached to bikes. So, for the big guys, who dont sell direct, most of them are going to have the shop do most of the general parts assembly since they’re making a profit on the sale of said bike. Especially since its cheaper and easier for the big guys to just throw a padded frame, and parts in a box at hit send.

I wonder if yt, canyon or commencal would cover shop fees if your bike wasnt tuned properly out of the box?

@jeff.brines any input here?

Does canyon garuntee a perfeclty functional bike out of the box? And what happens when, inebitably, a customer gets one that isn't?

@anotherbikerguy yeah dude. The big brands aren’t direct to consumer. They pack their bikes to be assembled at a bike shop by skilled mechanics with an arsenal of tools. Canyon, YT and the likes are sold and shipped direct to consumer, you literally only need to tighten a couple bolts and you are ready. Its like comparing apples to oranges at this point. Yeah, like jeff says below, its not foolproof but these bikes really take 10 minutes out of the box before you can ride them. They are assembled and tuned by a mechanic at the factory before they go in a box...

Agree, Saint is due. That said, the current Saint derailleur and crankset are so damn reliable and bomb proof I feel the only major improvement would be in the weight category.

Everyone has their own opinion about what the best drivetrain is—that's essentially what Shimano determined, they asked a whole bunch of racers what they wanted and determined there was no ONE unanimous winner so they created a couple options to satisfy a broader range...more

Ok, true, but does anyone running high end product even want a front derailleur? How many XC pros are running 2x drivetrains, much less the enduro crowd? It just seems like bragging rights about something no one wants, just to say "hey we have it, the other guy doesn't." Many many new frames aren't even able to mount a front derailleur, so its beyond me why a company would design a new system for it. I thought we were getting to the unanimous point of evolved 1x systems that make front derailleurs obsolete.

Also, doesn't it seem mornonic for Shimano to say "we don't think 12x drivetrains are necessary because of x, y, and z. But we made one anyway."?
