in audio he mentioned taking it easy this week. someone (maybe it was him?) mentioned not even doing a timed run today to conserve energy for the week. edit - his plate number is 62 - is it only top 60 allowed for timed runs now?

"Acoustic Bikes"? Hard nope there. Can we all just agree that the nomenclature for a normal fully mechanical non-motor assisted bike is a bike and a e-bike is an e-bike.

Bummer. Really wanted to see him pull an Amaury and get right back on the bike, crushing it.

So much work goes into these. Also, shows how hard racing at the EWS level is. Keep at it dude!

Go buy a segway/surron. Less than 1/2 the money. Faster. Or yeah, just go buy a real dirt bike. New KTM 300XC is $10.5K.

Listen to Behind Enemy Lines. Do that. I love the banter, and there is a nostalgia I get listening to you guys. But I'm also one of the fellow weirdos (I say that nicely) who spent my youth (poorly) chasing the DH dream. (very very poorly)

For those who never raced DH as a "young adult", your insight is what is valuable, so aim to bring that forth faster. Skip the inside jokes. Trim the fat. Don't be scared to have an opinion, it is podcasting after all.

You guys have something

Appreciate your thoughts on the USDH Unfiltered podcasts we've been doing. The goal thus far has been to keep a relaxed vibe with this sub-division of the Inside Line podcasts to counter the usual interviews detailing an individuals life/career. Which I've personally loved since they started, even...more

This is chill. Would be even better with a video or photo slideshow overlay to help visualize what sections we’re hearing discussed.

I definitely could be wrong, first world level race was world champs there in 2008. That track was definitely fresh then too

this from the Val di Sole bike park website - "The Black Snake celebrated its 20th anniversary in the 2018 season" so 1998 is when the track was opened, not necessarily raced? Did they typo on their site and mean 2008? It sure was fresh for that race.

Play this forward. While I understand trying to be in peak physical readiness on race day, I don't see how any amount of practice weeks before a race changes anything outside knowing the dirt.

Again, these guys aren't learning how to ride, they know that. They are learning a track that is changing day to day.

Memorization happens quickly. From there its just figuring out what line is working in what condition.

There would be an argument to figuring out possible crazy sneaker lines way ahead of time IF the entire track was open for weeks before, but at most its a section or two. And those sections change so much I don't think there is anything to be learned from them.

Over-practice is definitely a thing. Pros constantly talk about "peaking" on race day. This part of that.

This whole pre practice practice purity-of-racing kerfuffle; who cares?

1) As far as I know you are never practicing the exact track.
2) This isn't enduro where 'ride off your wits" is part of the aim. Its DH, with ample practice awarded to everyone in every class.
3) Don't a lot of these tracks have sections that are always part of a bike park or similar? (Fort Bill)
4) My biggest point - you could give the top guys unlimted practice for weeks prior to the race and I'd bet it changes nothing. A track is learned relatively quickly. From there, lines change as the track wears in (or breaks down). These guys aren't learning how to ride a bike, they know that. So what is all this additional practice really garnering anyone?

(I'll answer my own stupid question) - Only advantage I see is knowing how the dirt feels, and knowing what tires you'll be running.

I'm clearly very very very far away from a WC pro, but I'd say lap 4-5 is about when I'm up to speed on a track. Beyond that, I may actually get slower lol

The rear axle is attached to the chainstay, which is attached to a concentric link at the BB. This would mean it is not a Horst link.
