It's disappointing that the marketing manager gets to tell the test engineer what he learned in school is no good for the company to communicate to the public, and so the message will be cheerful nonsense instead. Why treat your customer like...more

Added a new video Muckmedden's Eliminator 2013 12/17/2013 2:23 PM

THE ELIMINATOR was a brand new grin-inducing MTB weekender where two challengers race side by side down a super-fun course on a big Muckin’ hill! Whether you’re a Downhiller, an XC Racer, a Weekend Warrior or a Dabbler, THE ELIMINATOR weekender was the best MTB weekend of the summer – not the gnarliest, the most technical or the scariest, but the one that put the biggest smile on racers faces at the end of each run. THE ELIMINATOR had kids races, great tunes, a chilled out festival vibe, a local ale tent and free camping pitches. Check out for info on the 2014 races.

Added a new video Ramon Hunziker | Ride The Alps 12/13/2013 8:40 AM

Two years ago, for the first time in history a Swiss guy got the chance to compete at the Red Bull Rampage in Utah, clearly one of the biggest and most prestigious Bike Events of the entire year. Back from the contest Ramon Hunziker changed the way he looks at the Swiss Alps forever. The movie "Ride the Alps”, the result of Ramon Hunziker’s summer long search for Freeridelines in the Alps has been released.

"Challenging, extremely steep and scary”. This is how Ramon Hunziker describes the terrain on which the riders had to pick their lines at the Red Bull Rampage in Utah. But only because it looks unrideable to most of the human beings does not mean that nobody can ride it. "I wasn’t used to the ground in the beginning. After some practice, I began to love it. The dirt is soft enough to brake, but still not too soft to ride berms.”

Ramon and his crew build a line no one else rides, which results in bonus points from the Jury. Besides all the self-built obstacles, the 72-feet long Canyon Gap is part of Ramon’s Line. After his 16th place in 2012, Ramon came close to the Top Ten this year. He finished the contest with a technical and fast run in 11th position. The riding style of Ramon didn’t change much since he competed at the Red Bull Rampage, but he’s setting his limits higher than ever before: "From that point on I knew: Much more is possible!”

Back in Switzerland enriched by all the collected experience and driven by his desire to ride similar lines back home, Ramon begins his search for comparable terrains in Switzerland. Swiss Filmmaker, Roger Wegmann took part in Ramon’s journey last summer; hiking and filming on trails and hills. It turns out, filming steep Freeride lines in Switzerland is not that easy. The Alps are different, the lines hard to reach, the mountains steep and full of stones; braking is often not an option. Shuttling, as it is common in North America, is not allowed, cars and trucks are banned on most mountain roads and logging roads. After a few false starts and setbacks Ramon and Roger found what they searched for: steep, flowy Freeride lines.

"Ride the Alps” brings us to places in the Alps, which have never before been discovered by mountain bikers, apart from known trails and bikeparks; pure Freeride lines in the Swiss Alps!

Added a new video Taniwha DH Track in Rotorua, New Zealand 12/13/2013 7:32 AM

Dave Hamilton aka the Fatman, a local copper and president of Descend Mountain Biking woofs down a burger at The Pig & Whistle then proceeds to make Chris Southwood and Mick Ross look like beginners on road bikes, as he lights up the greasy and steep downhill track in Rotorua, New Zealand. Holy moly he is fast!

Bryce Shapley, all limbs and raw speed on his dialed Specialized Enduro 29 led Chris Southwood and Mick Ross through his favorite trail with ball-tearing pace.On a track like this, you can lay off the brakes and relish in the fine work of the creative local trail builders.

In the 3rd installment of the Top 10 Trails in Rotorua, Morgan Wilson (Morgs) from Zippy Central catches up with Chris Southwood and Mick Ross from to ride Gunna Gotta. Best viewed in HD.Gunna Gotta: Grade 4. Length 2.3km.Built in 2004 by Dave Hutchings, with almost constant fettling by Hutch ever since. The top section was rebuilt and remodeled in the 2011/12 after logging in the area, with input and help from the Rotorua Mountain Bike Club.Starts from the top of Katore Rd. Can also be accessed from Tokorangi Pa Rd.

Keegan Wright, a South Star Shuttle regular owns these trails. Chris and Mick get a lesson.Huckleberry Hound - Grade 4. Length 1.2km.Built in 2007 by James Dodds, Rob Metz and Mark Upshall.Starts from Tawa Rd and ends on Hill Rd. It has 45 small to medium sized jumps to improve your hucking skills..Loads of small to medium sized jumps, all jumps can be rolled over, no gaps! There are lines that avoid the technical bits if you need an out. It is, without doubt, one of the better trails in the forest due to sheer fun factor.Little Red Riding Huck - Grade 4. Length 3.2km.Built in 2007 by James Dodds for RMTBC.Starts from Hill Rd and ends at the corner of Pipeline and Hill Roads. Another 40 medium size jumps stepping your huckability to the next level with a brilliant berm after berm after berm section about 2/3s of the way down.Loads of medium sized jumps, mostly rollable, some gaps and drops signposted with arrows off line.

Brad from Mountain Bike Rotorua and elite rider Katie O'Neill guide Chris Southwood and Mick Ross from Best viewed in HD.Grade 3. Length 2.7km. Built by Mark Smith in 2003. Rebuilt 2011.Starts on Red Tank Rd - 50 metres from the intersection of Pipeline, Direct & Red Tank roads (where the water tap is).In 2010/11 there was a major amount of harvesting in the area and the Rotorua Mountain Bike Club took the opportunity for a full rebuild. Part of the brief was to retain the shape and length of the original and in this the Club along with Mark have created another masterpiece. BRNT defined fast and flowing and, if anything, that is improved in the rebuild.Ride the full trail and you will exit at the Red Tank, Nursery Road intersection.

Picking cover shots is tricky. That no-hander was sweet, but I guess it didn't translate into a good photo for you.
