Yep, I picked all the parts for this one based on my own preferences. As stated in the article, a lot of the parts have already been tested and reviewed here on the site, so it was really a case of what I wanted to ride for this one (lucky me!). The one exception is the fork, as it is brand new...more
Thanks! I actually went back to the Grip damper because I had to sell the fork I pulled the Grip2 from. I'm really familiar with that damper and it worked just as well in the Z1, but I did have to run some pretty extreme settings with the Grip2 in there, I'm guessing because it wasn't tuned with a linear spring in mind, though I could be totally wrong there. I think I ended up right at the extreme end of one of the rebound settings, which was way off of where I ran it in my 36-- I just remember being relieved I didn't need one more click. Overall the only thing I miss from the Grip2 is the HSR adjuster. I personally wouldn't spring for the Grip2 having tried both in this fork. Only other thing I'll mention is that this thing is heav.y. Absolutely amazing traction but I definitely notice it takes more effort to get the front end off the ground with all that weight and without a progressive air spring to push off of. If I started this build over today I might go with a lyrik tbh.

on the website the price for the recycled material models is the same as the others...and the same as the Freeriders and Pros have been for a while.
