Reply to Will 29ers Impact 2018 World Cup DH Results? 11/21/2017 10:01 AM

I think that yes the 29 inch wheel will have an impact, in that it is another tool to help riders find a bike they feel comfortable on and go fast with. I don't think it's such a clear cut advantage in and of itself as we perhaps thought after a couple ... more »

Reply to How Much Reach is Too Much Reach? 11/18/2017 12:22 PM

New thread How Much Reach is Too Much Reach? 11/18/2017 1:18 AM

It's no secret that bikes have been going "longer, lower and slacker" for some time now, but let's step back and put things into perspective when it comes to reach. Traditionally, each jump between frame sizes would represent an increase of about 15-20mm

Reply to Pedal thoughts? 11/17/2017 9:11 AM

This will help: Flat Pedal Face Off. Of the three that you mention, I'd go with the T-MACs. Super grippy, and very reliable. Took 2nd place in our shootout (link above). The Atlas offers great grip, but the bushings wear out really quickly. The Canfields are an ... more »

And to kick things off, I'm nominating Madeira. Absolutely magical, in places. It gets loads of rain but also sun, and in certain areas, the dirt just seems to be made of velcro. Never really felt anything like it elsewhere...although there are a lot

New thread POLL: Do You Also Use Your MTB To Get Around? 11/12/2017 6:45 AM

Here's a question that came to me today, as I rode my (mountain) bike back home after dropping my truck off at the shop (a 1-hour pedal at semi-decent pace): our bikes are great for shredding, but many of them are pretty good at taking you places too.

I can sort of see what Schleyer is saying about the flat part...but what redeems it in my mind is the risk factor. You've stomped the big moves up on the mountain, now sign your run with something sick. Just because it's on the flat part doesn't make ... more »
