As a member of the "core audience" I was wondering why the commentary was so subdued for the 2014 season.
This post answer that!
And, I for one, do not like it! I do not need know stats/info about that riders and their team. I need to be reminder to look at the time and to reflect on the size of Danny Hart's balls.
Stoked that Robs got a regular gig though.

Yeah, but it was pretty clear the announcers didn't know what they were talking about half the time. I am super stoked Andreu won it and that he did it on a run like that: BIG mountain. You could tell after first runs they were rewarding creative lines and the dodgy-ness of them more than tricks for which I am very glad.
Between Andreu, Zink, Kyle and a few others I was left slack jawed that the things they were attempting was even doable. How the hell they thought those moves were ridable to being with?! Just amazing!
Some really creative lines from Brendan and Paul Bas as well. Those might have been winners in previous years. The level is absolutely insane...

So why the f... did he go to Rampage? What is the purpose of posting such news? If he wants to stop riding, stop riding but stop this sh.. also. Pathetic!

Having hiked the course last year, know that there is WAY more natural terrain to cover than the relatively little bit of wood you see here. Plus, the Icon Sender now sends riders 3 ways, rather than 2, which actually opens more options than last year. Personally I'm for it. The handful of wood additions allow the riders to focus more time on the rest of their lines. They only have 3 days to build this year with 3 helpers...

You guys are worrying a bit too much about that...
1. Some of those wood features are below where the contest area ended before, or just at the bottom, so if anything they extend out the area.
2. This is the third year they've had it in the same area. A majority of the lines you will see have already been built by THE RIDERS, there's only so many different lines you can build.
3. Don't underestimate the riders and their creativity. I'm guessing you've never been to the site before but there's a LOT of area to work with even though there are a few pre-built features (did you not watch Darren's run in 2010?).
4. It makes it better for spectators which, as I know you will say its not about the spectators, its about the riders... well in theory yes it should always be about the riders but in every major event in practically any sport, spectator numbers is what makes the financiers (the sponsors) happy and coming back to make the event happen. Its the natural progression of ANY contest and who knows, maybe it will be moved to a completely fresh venue eventually.
So settle down and enjoy this because this is still nothing like any slope contest despite a few pre-built features... you're really overreacting, haha.

I love seeing big bikes for FMB events - it really mixes it up and shows the true MTB nature of it - something that is undeniably unique and different from BMX and MX. And, to me, big bikes doing huge sh!t - a la rampage - is just freaking cool if you ask me. Not only do you have to be able to throw down tricks, you have to be able to just get to the bottom. More!
