THIS EXACTLY. Looking at the specs it looked more like an early 2000's Freeride bike. 170MM Travel, 2.6" tires, 180mm rear post mount...

It is without a doubt that there are plenty of riders (myself included) that roll around on bikes that are often overkill for most of the trails they frequent. That said, the trend seems more making big bikes with better mild trail manners. Sure, 15+ years ago I pedaled a nearly 40 lb bike around on trails so that I could go crazy and never worry about said bike being able to take it. That was awesome, when I rode in BC, but not so much just about everywhere else. Today, I ride a bike that I will likely never find the end of, but at the same time it is not a boat anchor on more tame terrain. I have no doubt the N4 will demolish everything it's path when things get nuts, but can you see many riders making this a daily driver too? The N3 could easily perform double duty in this regard, but the N4 seems far more singular in it's design.

I don't think that its all that fair we are saying the new nomad lacks versatility to the degree we might be suggesting. It is more capable when descending for sure, but remember, it has excellent antisquat properties and only 5mm more travel (though it can feel like...more

This seems like a ballsy move for SC. The N4 is now one of their most niche-oriented offerings and certainly lacks the versatility of the previous Nomad incarnations. I will be interested to see how long this version hangs around as I do not see SC selling tons of them. I wish SC only the best, but this smells of the Driver 8 and it's ultimate demise.

Both posts have the same guts and perform well. However, I have seen friends have the same issues mentioned here with both of them.

In theory yes as they license the design. In practice, not even close as their QC is a joke. The RF is unreliable as can be...the 9.8 the opposite.

The Race Face is basically the same post.

Stated they didn't include it because it does not come in a 150mm drop. Also have owned several it's really not that great of a post.

Love to have one of the YETI SB bikes. However, I cannot come anywhere close to paying that much for a frame with a lazy (cheap) press-fit BB. Zero excuses on a bike at that price range.

Vital did go through all that stuff with the Calling here. The take away from the ratings would suggest that the Calling is more fun and a better descender than the Yeti. The Yeti gets the edge in the climbing category. I have ridden both bikes (hour + demo with the Yeti) and have spent a long time with The Calling. I think Vitals reviews here are spot on. It's always a matter of priorities and style, but for me the Calling wins hands down. There are few bikes in it's travel range that shred as hard.
