Added a comment about video BIG ROCKS & BACKFLIPS! Vital RAW, Snowshoe World Cup Downhill 9/6/2019 4:05 AM

The world cup circuit is a very cohesive bunch, and while team riders are always priority, it's not uncommon for mechanics/team staff to help out privateers, whether by giving away parts or helping out with tinkering on the rig. Everyone is passionate about racing, so when a privateer is killing it all season you'll see a lot of people helping out where they can to keep him in between the tape.

I've lived in Belgium, where the longest downhill is about 45 seconds of flat-ish trails, with very few trails to choose from, and I've lived in Queenstown where I got to ride the bike park every single day for 8 months of the year (+ amazing trail riding the other 4 months). I'm convinced that areas with limited riding breed better riders, since you're bound to end up riding the same (sections of) trails over and over and over again, and it's much easier to improve than if you were riding 10 different trails in one day. It's the age old "practice makes perfect" v.s. "perfect practice makes perfect" dilemma.
I think the whole "sessioning 1 corner for hours on end" culture that is so prominent in the UK is why they have such talented riders

There's pictures of the BB part of their frame on the Pinkbike press release which might help you make a guess..
https://ep1.pinkbike.org/p6pb16797866/p6pb16797866.jpg
If you look at the bikes they've been on over the years, it's pretty much always been some slight variation of a single pivot (Commencal, GT Fury, Trek Session getting rid of the Full Floater setup,...), so I wouldn't be too surprised if they came up with a similar thing. If it ain't broke...

Added a comment about video La Bresse World Cup Track Preview (unofficial) 5/12/2018 1:39 AM

It is the same track indeed, it's a lot gnarlier than this video makes it seem. It's not the most technical, but still really steep and traction will be a big issue at higher speeds. Also, with how soft the dirt is over there, I predict the track will turn to shit by day 2

Keep in mind he was managing the Bergamont team in previous years. Although he does enjoy the odd party, he works a lot more than people give him credit for.

Yeah, they are cutting down trees, they removed an entire woods section in Leogang.
That being said, the footage is worth it imo: https://youtu.be/Nem8ltZmcss?t=13

Love it. There's something rad about the simplicity of a hardtail.
My trusty Production Privée has about 300 laps in Queenstown Bike Park and never let me down. Wouldn't swap it for any bike in the world.

WINNING BIKE: Aaron Gwin's YT TUES

In his post-race interview, Aaron mentioned something about issues with his bike during his run, but that he managed to keep riding. Any info on what that might have been (rim, frame,...)?

Added a comment about video Greatest Run of All Time? Aaron Gwin's Miraculous Win at MSA 2017 8/6/2017 2:30 PM

Not sure why people are downvoting you (although, as a Mick Hannah superfan: f*ck you). "Greatest run of all time" is subjective and depends on what people enjoy. Some like watching underdogs win, some like watching guys win in their own country, some like seeing riders on the ragged edge, or incredibly smooth, or very creative,...
If you enjoy great acts of patriotism, a robot-like ability to perform under pressure, and asperger-level precision, Greg's run is pretty up there in terms of greatest runs ever.
