Thanks for the feedback, really interesting to hear your comments about bottom out support and ultimately going back to air. I was asking since I just put a DHX2 on my Kona Process 29. The Process and the Sentinel have a very similar leverage curve so I was interested in how you found it . I had been considering a bigger bottom bumper hence my question.

So far so good for me - after trying a few rates a 550 spring is working well (I'm 88kgs) - general compliance and mid stroke is way better now, with only the occasional bottom out on larger drops to flatter landings. I also have used a longer stroke shock (62.5 from stock 60) to get approx 160mm travel, so probably the extra travel of the process makes the coil work for my local terrain (steep, rocky, "enduro"). I think (like you) I'd struggle with less travel to get the required support without a really stiff spring. Maybe Transition will consider a Sentinel LT for the future

I borrowed this DHX2 to ride on the Sentinel for about a month. The small bump was very good compared to the DPX2 which was to be expected. Ridden as an AM bike, I felt the coil was a viable option for the Sentinel as it really improved the 'trail' ride quality. When traversing towards Enduro and light freeride, I was never able to get the bottom out support I wanted, even with that marshmallow bumper you were mentioning (which came on the shock so I don't know where it came from). Ultimately, a coil could work on the Sentinel depending on riding style. Bad news is it didn't for me and I returned to the stock DPX2 with the largest volume spacer installed.

The Sweep lever adjustment is a combined LSC/HSC compression adjustment that ranges from open to lockout. From what I understand it's identical to the regular GRIP damper found on Fox 36 performance forks. I'll get that updated, thanks!

Noob question –did the GRIP damper in the Z1 change from the original 2018 FOX version? I own a 2018 Performance GRIP fork, and the 'sweep' dial is definitely NOT a LSC adjuster. It behaves more like an overall LSC+HSC adjuster and lockout. (Great little damper, if it had a dedicated...more

Called Push and the ACS coil for the 36 is only compatible with standard 36 CSUs (not the Rhythm found on the Z1 or 36 E-bike version). Called FOX to ask what the specific inner diameter of the Rhythm CSU was and they weren't able to give me any specific measurements. All they said is that the regular 36, rhythm, and E-bike CSUs all have different inner diameters. Although it's a vague response, it answers if the Z1 is compatible with many aftermarket products.

'Democrats, or Republicans' was not mentioned. I hope you do see the relevance of the cost of cycling goods to a cycling site though. News that will most likely affect everyone should just be seen as that, news, not bias. Plus, this article had good arguments...more

What Dirtworks said...at 5’9” I shoot for a combined reach (stem and frame) between 500-510. I’m on a large TR11 and just ordered a new patrol in Large also. I used to ride around the 430 mark on frames, feels tiny and unstable now. One of my biggest concerns about sizing up was how...more

Serious question, have you ridden a modern Transition for more than a day? Just like wheelsizes, getting them lined up in a tight corner takes a little different approach but once you adjust your riding, they are fine...and then you get the benefits of carrying some serious speed in the straights and floating over everything chunky.

“Refined” still only clears a 2.4 out back, reach is truthfully a size short, seat tube is still 1-2* too slack as well as 1”+ too long, and if they’d dropped a degree off the head angle they would have opened up better doors for shorter offset forks....bike still hits the target but...more

I wouldn't say that's a major problem. Its something one can work around without much issue. Put another way, I've never won/lost a race because my BB was threaded or press fit.

I'm still in shock this bike is so che...err...inexpensive and spec'd this well.
