i bet this bike absolutely rips. Something i am very curious of is how does a company successfully tell its customer that this alloy bike is now their fastest/best dh bike yet, while over the past 10 years they have told their customer that you NEED carbon. i get all the factors about production for a niche market, and how carbon is mostly marketing, just interesting to completely shift away from OCLV to alloy. I have always preferred alloy bikes anyway.

Really well thought through frame, I’d love to ride one.

As an aside the pricing makes me sad. When GG is making carbon front triangle frames domestically and selling frame with shock for less than 3k, makes an alloy overseas made frame/shock for 3k look pretty bad. Given the times they’ll probably sell all of them

It's pretty rad to see a rider go back and hit/interpret the lines of other riders from previous Rampages. There are so many cool features that get built, hit maybe 3 or 4 times for the sake of competition, and then forgotten about.

Those jumps are really long in person. And it’s hard to tell in the vid but the quick skip before the last hit in that jump line makes it pretty gnar

"Value" is so subjective, especially when compared to the direct to consumer brands. I'd argue that there is a tremendous amount of value missing for the consumer on those dtc bikes that extends well beyond what derailleur is spec'd. Also, if you haven't owned one of their bikes in over 8 years how do you know they are lackluster? I've owned a bunch of bikes in that time span from Santa Cruz, Yeti, Devinci, and Kona and the Konas are as good as any of them (IMHO) and more fun than most of them.

You are actually free to have fun in NZ and ride how you want. Each lift pass comes with a guy ironically named Paver. He follows you around with a shovel. Keeps you happy and him employed.

But that's a big problem. When you've been sending the production overseas for decades, to the point that the related jobs are not valued anymore, so that students don't want to do this, or as said in this podcast would rather work for boeing of medical, it's the whole chain that is broken and lost.

It's quite strange that people are raving about expensive bikes but that most people would feel kind of ashamed to be the guy working on it.

We totally lost it over time...

For instance you could have your welders doing "relatively-mass-produced" frames but every once in a while each welder would be assigned a custom order to break the monotony and kind of go back to the root of his job, feel proud of his job.

Thanks for the replies.

spomer didn't mean to imply you glossed over it but I think the general "make everything in us" crowd does at times. I don't want to mention the brand but it is a large one in a major metro area. One issue they brought up is that price isn't really the big issue but finding quality people that wanted to do the work.

To Push, more of a general business questions, but do you find you spend more time or HR resources on finding, developing, and retaining talent on the manufacturing side vs. the sales, marketing, design functions?

So Matt hit the DarkFest jumps a year or so back and was stoked but hasn't been back. And I don't think that Brandon Semenuk has ever been there. It's a matter of taste. So how about Tech Fest! Bring in that Red Bull money and give each rider a small piece of land and a month to build a paradise like this? Riders could be judged on both course design and utilization. One ranking. Then all of the rider/designers get to ride each other's course to try and one up. Second and final ranking.
