Anytime I see a ''designed in California'' it's a definite NO from me. I guarantee this wouldn't last more than a few months where I live (northern Britain's climate is a lot different that the Cali climate and our winters are a lot harsher).

I found this strangely relatable for mountain bike content. More than anything it comes across like a genuine attempt to help less experienced riders make a few simple decisions and arrive at a better outcome for themselves. So it came across to me a lot like the 5-10 minute demonstrations I do to introduce students to new lab equipment, or to ask them to think about more familiar equipment in a new way. I don't know if it gets engagement or changes people's behavior or moves product better or worse than all the other mtb marketing using tropes from beer or car commercials. Still it's refreshing

32lbs for an alloy hardtail is ridiculous. I own two steel hardcore hardtails and there both under 29lbs. One of my hardtails is ridiculously expensive (£6k build, 26lbs) but the other is just bog-standard and weighs 29lbs.

1. it certainly is "a thing" - calling all trail builders? b. with that said, let me clarify what i mean about tracking up lips and landings. this consideration is for rhythm/dirt jump lines or pumptracks that are manicured and, as mentioned, SOFT. bigger knobs will track up lips and landings making the jumps deteriorate more quickly. there were a few times i rode by freshly groomed jump lines at our local park b/c it had rained and they tuned up the jumps. but the dirt was soft and i wasn't going to ruin the trail builders' work just because i was on this bike. i came back w/ my dirt jumper that has basically slick tires and had a ball. high-traffic jump lines in bike parks that are meant for trail/enduro/DH bikes (like any whistler bike park trail that is lift-assisted for instance) are not what i was referring to. thirdly. on hardpacked/blue grooved jumps/trails or paved pumptracks, the super knobby tires are less grippy than lower profile tires b/c the knobs roll too much on jump faces or in bermed corners.

Paying a premium for a boutique brand that is not a boutique brand is the main point. They used to be, they no longer are. Their warranty support has been a nightmare for a while (a friend of mine has two bikes currently sitting in a state of denied warranty). Other brands used to be -as bad- Trek, for instance before they had the lifetime warranty on their swing arm (this is I think 24mos or less since that started).

For those of us who keep bikes a while or actually ride off road...well, the warranty is key. Not every week but not infrequently we see broken stuff. That is where I thank god that with my brand (Specialized) - assuming the LBS is in good standing, warranty is a non-issue (but for availability as all companies have).

I know of a couple guys with broken (one NIB issue) from YT. Its a mess.

From there, I am going to leave the political spewings of SC outta this, that, in and of itself caused me to NOT buy a set of their $2500 XC wheels.

Unfortunate end to a tremendous competitive career. I'm sure she'll be just as successful in her next adventures.

Or you could try to understand how something like that could happen by accident. 99% of the between the tape is legit. End of a stage, redlined, muddy goggles? It’s possible it was on purpose, but if your purposely going to cheat your looking for places to do so without a line of participants with waiting phones to capture it.

I'm really happy that he made sure to be there with the team to BE PRESENT FOR THE FANS. It cannot be overstated how valuable it is for the US fan base to have him at the track, in the pits and available to the public again.
Good on you Gwinner. The US fan base will remember you making the trip & joining them in the celebration of DH World's return to US soil.

Gwin has been plagued by injuries that he’s downplayed for several years consecutively. He hasn’t been able to charge and as a result, he hasn’t been a major player recently. People have a short memory. He Dominated for several years only losing a race here and there. if he could get healthy, he could contend again for a few years. I do think his experimenting with smaller and less established sponsors every year hasn’t helped.

California, a nice place to visit...when it's not burning...which is never.

After mutliple years of red flag fire warnings all the way into December, being evacuated for 2 weeks, and having crappy air most of the summer/fall, had to pull the plug and move. sad

Depends on purpose. I look forward to going to AK and spending some of my hard-earned money on their local economies - I ride XC though....
