I'm super confused because everybody in this post has a valid viewpoint. The "See Bruni's winning run" was the worst though. I should think Vital, etc would NOT put the winners name in thr title because it would force the reader to have to CLICK the article... and take the BAIT to find out who won? So Johan, Peter (a penis name for Dick) may be on to something more beneficial to your news outlet than he realized.
I like the example @milko gave, even though he just ruined a bunch of movies for me I haven't seen. (Kidding).

So by your comparison of XTR to GX, you might as well take the next step and say I can't see how XX1 is any better than GX.

I'm quite tired of the finicky b-tension of eagle. I feel like it constantly needs to be adjusted and doesn't hold an adjustment for very long. XTR is going on a bike this week and eagle is on another. It will be good to compare but if I get less frequent drivetrain issues, I'd give 5 stars.

And it's honestly nice to see something on Vital that doesn't get 4 stars. Everything gets 4 stars.

Does everything have to come down to grams? Coil shocks arguably provide better performance than air shocks and it comes with a weight penalty

Should Shimano only be selling 11 speed because Sram came to the market first with 12 speed and nothing would be considered innovative? Do you want 60t and the derailleur dragging on the ground? Or were you expecting the Shimano Samuri 14 speed?

Many reviews have been done on the new XTR 12 and the general consensus is that it shifts better than Eagle, particularity under load. Also, there is less of a jump between low gears on the Shimano 12.

When SRAM 1x11 first came out, the XD driver was all-new too, yet that drivetrain was widely praised and credited with ushering in the mass adaptation of the 1x transmission in the MTB world at large. No doubt we'd have much preferred to see wider licensing of the MicroSpline standard right off the bat, but we have little doubt it's going to happen. And the trickle-down has also already started with the recent introduction of the new XT group, which delivers pretty much all of the XTR benefits and performance at a lower cost.

duc - sorry to hear that. I was aware of this issue before the test, but didn't experience it a single time during my few months of testing. Our descents in Squamish aren't brake-dragging descents compared to some of the trails a little further North as the speeds aren't that high, but one of my go-to test laps is nearly 10-minutes of full-on descending and at 190lbs. I had no issues. Same story in the bike park.

It's supposedly used to dampen vibration. You dampen vibration by tuning the mass or using appropriate materials (foams and other, usualy polymer materials that have a high internal damping coefficient) between two components. Sticking shiny stickers randomly around the bike will do nothing.

No actual data needed, just the basic knowledge of vibrodynamics of structures.
