Reply to Another geo thread - this time, related to stack height 9/10/2022 8:47 PM

I just rode my XXL Transition Spire for the first time and had a big issue with the too low stack height. For some reason the factory sent the Zeb out with the steerer tube cut so only 20mm of spacer will go under the stem, 40mm stem 5 degree rise, and ... more »

Reply to All Things 2022 DH World Champs Les Gets 8/22/2022 2:30 PM

The Opera browser's free built-in VPN has worked on Red Bull for me the past few years in the USA in Colorado on Spectrum and Washington state on a different ISP. I'd avoid FloSports' silly pricing and pay structure at all costs.

Reply to Attending first ever World Cup/Champs - Les Gets - what to expect 7/28/2022 11:45 AM

The course in Val di Sole is very much worth seeing in person, more so than the Les Gets track. I would also venture to say the crowds will be smaller which is a bonus in my eyes but your views might differ.

Reply to Unifying the USDH vision and working with USAC - Outlaw's proposal 7/28/2022 10:48 AM

What was dangerous about the DH course? They could have just taped around the final wood feature given the conditions, otherwise I can't think of anything.

Reply to There's a Brand New World Cup Track in Vallnord! 6/20/2022 6:43 PM

I like seeing properly dry and loose rocky trails like the NORBA days, reminds me of Mammoth. I hope they tape the woods off wider and put poles every now and then in the lines that Neko rode; seemed incredibly one lined with lots of pointing and shooting. ... more »

Reply to How Much Reach is Too Much Reach? 4/28/2022 8:59 AM

That puts me at 540-550mm reach, which is about where I'd like my reach to be.

Reply to No Vaccine, No Lourdes World Cup for Racers? 1/19/2022 5:15 PM

There was a "had COVID but recovered recently" allowance previously that didn't require vaccination, but I couldn't find if that still applies in the new rules out of the 6 articles I read. Racers will be required to have a booster to be considered "vaccinated" ... more »

Reply to That Vanzacs Calendar 1/6/2022 11:00 PM

I looked through Amanda's Instagram and can't imagine a person more insufferable and at odds with my thought processes on basically everything. The way she goes about bullying and online shaming everyone under the sun she takes offense to is super lame. ... more »

Reply to 2022 UCI Rule Changes 12/23/2021 9:37 PM

To me the biggest and most positive change/reversion is in the rule which states the criteria for which rider's are eligible to participate in Elite DH: Rule 4.9.003 "1. Having obtained at least 40 UCI points in the UCI DHI individual reference ranking ... more »

New thread 2022 UCI Rule Changes 12/23/2021 9:35 PM

After seeing the article on Pinkbike and reading the rules, I don't agree with their interpretation of the new "Injury Status" rule, 4.9.038, plus they missed on reporting another important rule change. The Rulebook can be found here with changes ... more »

Reply to Anybody using the Rohloff or Kindernay hub gearbox for mountain biking or downhill? 9/22/2021 7:26 PM

A new decent rear derailleur runs $125+ plus a new cable and possibly housing isn't all that cheap. A derailleur alternative like Rohloff shouldn't need major replacements for a "minimum of 100,000km riding", really not a big deal on price when spread ... more »

Reply to Anybody using the Rohloff or Kindernay hub gearbox for mountain biking or downhill? 9/22/2021 4:51 PM

Does the .5lb difference also include the derailleur from a standard set up? Wish the large drivetrain companies would look more intently at derailleur alternatives.

Reply to Snowshoe World Cup DH Finish Feature 8/26/2021 10:41 AM

Who thought it was a good idea for the straight ramp step up take off to rounded landing? Not knowing the speed of entry I can’t truly judge, but it very much seems like a speed restricted feature. You’ll have to slow down, bunny hop to make a smooth ... more »

Reply to Gwin not representing US at World Championships? (WTF?) 8/20/2021 8:26 AM

You can use the web browser, Opera, with it's built in VPN. I did it last year and the year before in Washington and Colorado, so it wasn't hindered by the internet provider either.

Reply to Gwin not representing US at World Championships? (WTF?) 8/8/2021 10:11 PM

I think we can all agree that USAC is a doo doo organization, especially when it comes to their handling of downhill racing.

Reply to Amaury Pierron Posts 7/31/2021 2:40 PM

It should be noted that Muc-Off is not pulling its sponsorship from Amaury’s team, only Comencal 21 where Alex Marin and Angel Saurez are. Charlie Julia is that teams manager and Amaury’s post was a repost of Charlie’s story (plus some text).

Reply to Anyone ever worn a hole in a crank arm? 7/19/2021 8:54 PM

It doesn't have to be high, could be and is most likely when the cranks are level. If he rides left foot forwards while descending steeper terrain, that part of the crank will be lower than the pedal and would be right around the point of the heel where ... more »
