I see your point, but 'Tribe' has been in used in Europe for centuries as well as other parts of the world. From all I see it originated in Rome /Mediterranean area. This particular word isn't anyone's to 'own'. Yeti is a private company and is free to change as they see fit, but...more

Eh, tribe is used internationally for groups of people from a wide array of ethnicities. I’d say that viewing the word tribe as a term that only applies to native Americans and that it marginalizes them is the epitome of a white American point of view.

It's called cultural appropriation. And it's going out of style. Feel free to remain stuck in the past.

...and uses the word "bitch" in the URL. Oh wait, its okay because its a woman that runs it? I guess? Man, I really hope I don't have to take a wokeness test soon because I most certainly will fail the what is okay and not okay section.

Funny @yahmon a web link to a site that looks to be run by a 'privileged' upper class women who's main goal appears to be shaming all things 'white'. That said, several native Americans in my friend group and not a single one find the use in this particular case offensive. Up tight...more

How will those experiencing the means to acquire fine taste express brand loyalty without a trendy name for their exclusive group to lord over the proletariat?

Hello Yahmon,

I'm not "clearly" speaking to you. I'm replying to the myriad of comments such as yours. You can find them on facebook, Twitter, Instagram (actually, scratch that, Yeti disabled comments on the post) and PinkBike.

First I'll push back on the idea the word tribe is...more

Wow. Yes, this will get downvoted but I find freedom to use this language more important than popularity. Counter culture is no longer "counter". Its the culture now.

People with values like mine, ones that point to pragmatism, and trying to note how impossible (and dangerous) a...more

Concentrate on building a bike that doesn't have it's rear end explode every year before this stuff.

I'm offended that someone is offended by something that doesn't offend me, and I'm not a ROBOT who's easily offended.

Wow, kudos for finding a way to fit the words oppression, privilege, freedom and vindication all within three short paragraphs. In all seriousness, this is the wokest thing written on Vital maybe ever.

It's a matter of privilege. If you're part of the privileged group, you won't notice it.

I find it both ironic and sad that you just marginalized every commenter here and on pinkbike that has a different opinion than you while claiming to stand up for “vindication” of a “marginated” group.

This is in response to Yahmon’s link to myself and another user. I’m not sure why I’m being told the website is unable to take my response as a reply.

I'd just like to remind everyone bikes are still cool, yeti is still a great company, and being critical of something doesn't mean we "hate" each other.

Sparring intellectually is okay. We used to do this all the time. I'd like to bring it back.

Just a friendly reminder despite...more
