Reply to The best “what could have been” race runs in WC DH history. 1/15/2022 6:50 AM

Sam Hill holds the title for best what could have been run. The comments about the third in Champery in the wet are complimentary, but it is not 'what could have been', it was a great run. He didn't crash out, and he got a lot of credit for it. Weather ... more »

What bike/travel is this on and what do you want to use the bike for?

This is true, but I would change one word. For me, it is “Wonderful setup, absolutely no modulation.” I got used to it fast, and I’m not saying it is right, but it is what I prefer.

Reply to Gwin not representing US at World Championships? (WTF?) 8/8/2021 1:45 PM

Or if you are the defending world champ, then your spot doesn’t count. The Brits can have 8 and Italians can have 8 on the men’s teams this year via defending champ and host country.

Reply to Gwin not representing US at World Championships? (WTF?) 8/7/2021 2:16 PM

There's a few different ways to look at this, and given Gwin's response to not being named, it seems like this was just an oversight on his part. USAC is following their own rules, which is a good thing, and they are being consistent and clear. Also ... more »

Brian Head in Utah is getting a few new sections of black diamond trails, some completely new bigger segments and lots of little fixes here and there, and they are planning on opening the 26th of June, possibly a week before. The mountain is mostly snow ... more »

Reply to UCI World Cup DH nerd question re: 60 qualifiers 5/11/2020 10:58 AM

I also think that Matti Lehikoinen or however you spell his name qualified poorly when he won the race in Champery when Sam Hill got his epic run for 3rd place. So I would say the best spot with a poor qualifier, as Mark Beamont's, is 1st.

Reply to What Do You Use For Off-Season Training? 2/7/2020 7:28 AM

I would think the best season in Phoenix is now, correct? Are you looking at diversifying or building up for one event? Just being better for the start of lift season in the coming months?

Jeff Brines posts have to date taken up .5 percent of global server space, equating to about 3 million tons of CO2 emissions from the energy needed to run them.

Good article, and the ScootScoop people seem to be realistic about some of the problems. I was in Venice with some family a few months back, and the scooters there were kinda hard to believe. Left everywhere, and some of the people on them were not very ... more »

Reply to How many pros CAN'T manual? 7/31/2019 7:29 AM

It kinda depends on your definition of 'manual' as far as if pro riders can or can't. to be riding along on flat ground and manual at will, for 100 feet or so, I'd guess half of the pro (gravity) field could do that. A couple rolls on a trail? That's ... more »

The Dakine tailgate pad is especially bad. It doesn't have padding on the crease, you know, the most important part that the frame goes on. Lots of pad companies have it backwards too. If I have my truck for say, 6 years, I might have a dozen downhill, ... more »
