Added reply in a thread The best “what could have been” race runs in WC DH history. 1/15/2022 6:50 AM

Sam Hill holds the title for best what could have been run. The comments about the third in Champery in the wet are complimentary, but it is not 'what could have been', it was a great run. He didn't crash out, and he got a lot of credit for it. Weather ... more »

There are lots of good kids that just send it, but this was a really unique mix of powerful riding which rarely happens so young, and finesse. Cool to see.

What bike/travel is this on and what do you want to use the bike for?

OK now... Let's get this Forum back on topic!

But while I'm here... Clearly the trick to that hole is to go so fast that you just jump clear over it.

I'm way more pumped on video projects like this that result in a usable trail for other people, as opposed to one-off spectacles that either get bulldozed when they're done or just slowly erode and covered with weeds in the middle of nowhere.

I'm truly shocked at the people pointing out the 'flaws' in this from their armchair engineering desks. This BB might solve the side load/inconsistent preload problem some cranks have, isn't crazy expensive compared to other high end offerings, and has a lifetime warranty against wear AND corrosion, not just manufacturing defects?

And the one comment from LLLLL about 'just buy a Chris King BB and grease tool'? He/she's essentially saying "Don't buy this $160 thing (without even using it) and buy what I did for a total retail price of $230". Do people want innovation to just stop? That just sounds idiotic. I mean, this option is less expensive than the King BB alone, and you don't need to take care of it if you don't want to. That sounds like 10X better to me. I mean, I like the King stuff, its nice, and so are others, but this OPTIONAL thing that some people are offended by seems cool too.

Anything is better than a Dub BSA bottom bracket. Milk lasts longer.

Agreed. I'm all for kids having nice bikes, but that doesn't mean they have to be spendy.
Like you pointed out - buy an old straight steerer 26" fork, get that new PNW dropper, and you've got them setup with suspension and a dropper for $1100.
Anyway, plenty of...more

I see your point, there are a lot of ripper kids. However, I wouldn't harsh on these bikes. $700 can be a lot for a family, and $1500 or something can be a mortgage payment if you have two little rippers. I don't see many downsides for these bikes as these prices. If you want a dropper post and suspension, can't you just add it yourself? It could be done for $200 for the dropper and maybe a used straight steerer older fork for $3-400? That would still be $1300 or so with a little work on mom or dad's part. The hub spacing, disk brake ready frames seem to be ready for upgrades you might want down the road.

This is true, but I would change one word. For me, it is “Wonderful setup, absolutely no modulation.” I got used to it fast, and I’m not saying it is right, but it is what I prefer.
