Great article Paul! Im totally with you on this one, I think this 'underbiking' crap that has grown so much in popularity is mostly just bravado and general dumb assery. Same goes for gravel biking, 'look how much fun Im having! I have to walk my bike past every technical feature and I crash constantly!'

Added a comment about feature MTB Tire Insert Comparison Test - CushCore Pro vs Nukeproof ARD vs MegaNorris 8/20/2020 9:46 AM

DH tire sidewall support is better than insert + exo tire though.

I've been running cushcores with mich wild enduros and I have been pretty disappointed with the 'support'. Maybe can run a couple psi lower with cushcore, worth it for the feel on rocks though.

I have been back to back testing the soft compound DD 2.5 dhf with the magi-x michelin front and I like the michelin better, I am used to it though. Maybe I would have stuck with maxxis if DD wasnt such a farce, DH weight with trail puncturablility, at least in my experience ( I have destroyed 2 DD DHR 2s first or second ride). Michelins at least dont puncture constantly.

The 1x reverb remote is actually super nice and they can be sourced 2nd hand for like 30$. Buttery smooth hydraulic action, makes the post return super fast too.

Added a comment about product review Unlike Anything Else - Trust Shout Linkage Fork Reviewed 2/6/2020 11:50 AM

Bturman, that does not count. It also doesn't prove a point. Jeff isn't saying no one ever tried a linkage moto fork, it was done to death in the 70s and 80s, it never caught on. Riders complained about the same stuff, biggest being harshness rear heavy landings. These were protoypes built by really smart people at shops like honda, with honda budget, and it still didnt catch on.

These actually work well on some progressive bikes. It's a popular upgrade on the current gen nukeproof mega, and that bike is real progressive.

2019 Custom Transition Patrol, Tyson's Dream Build

My old man has similar bike setup. He has air shocks, but still carbon patrol with exo casings. He rides serious trails that give most of us flats w/o inserts, but he doesn't ever flat because he never pushes as hard. Im actually pretty jealous that he gets away with it, and I dont think heavier casings would improve his riding at all.

I think the real solution is some kind of EMP device that can be deployed when getting passed by ebike on a climb.

Not sure how it could be done without damaging the Ebike in some way though, something that I do not endorse.

Have you measured the HTA? Seems to be some discrepancy as geo chart says 65, but reviews claiming anywhere between 65 and 64.

Asking because I just ordered one and Im super anxious to ride it lol.

Radially compliant rims will require a lot more maintenance I think. Moto wheels are an adjust spokes every ride kind of deal (motocross).

I have convinced myself that it is mostly marketing. Maxxis doesn't sell nearly EVERY possible combinations of its ridiculous buzzwords.

I think their tires are in a constant state of flux and the sidewall just says what it does. From a guy who buys 2 DD minions every month.

Yes, if you can fit one. There appears to be four bolt configuration in a few of the pictures too.
