All that work and just threw some hammered holzfeller cranks back on...

Maxxis charges too much and MaxxGrip wears too quickly... I like a harder compound for the rear tire. MaxTerra not in DH casing. Assguy MG up front all day long.

Good to have a nice inch lb torque wrench, but not necessary if you have a decent feel for what like 7 inch lbs feels like. You can check out the install instructions on push's website, there are pictures and stuff. The hardest part was finding enough ... more »

Yep, took about an hour and a half and it was the first time I ever took a charger 2 apart, but I have rebuilt a few of the older charger dampers. Good instructions, only shims you need to mess with are on the rebound piston, and there are like 4 total ... more »

Older debonair spring is not bad, people used to pay Vorsprung good money to give their forks a couple mm of static sag. Charger 2 lets these forks down more than anything, charger 2.1 is an improvement, but still needs to be oversprung to prevent dive. ... more »

You could probably solve the sag issue from the old spring by packing grease on the negative side of the piston.

I have been back to back testing the soft compound DD 2.5 dhf with the magi-x michelin front and I like the michelin better, I am used to it though. Maybe I would have stuck with maxxis if DD wasnt such a farce, DH weight with trail puncturablility, at least in my experience ( I have destroyed 2 DD DHR 2s first or second ride). Michelins at least dont puncture constantly.

The 1x reverb remote is actually super nice and they can be sourced 2nd hand for like 30$. Buttery smooth hydraulic action, makes the post return super fast too.

Double taping was beneficial with some rim/tire combos a few years ago, just to remedy a loose bead and get the tire to air up the first time. It really isn't necessary anymore as brands have got tubeless stuff more dialed in.

^ This. Buy the cheapest charger2 RC lyrik and install HC97 comp unit, this setup is far superior to the charger 2.1 Push even recommends a rebound shim stack based on your weight and includes the shims. It's a major departure from stock, despite using ... more »

Ouch, pretty savage to rag on the front end that hard without addressing fork tune or cockpit setup in any detail. I mean maybe 66 degrees and 44mm offset is some magically awful combo, but I kinda doubt it. With the note about head tube length, seems like adjusting bar height or fork sag...more

I think it's cheaper to keep the lifts running in the summer usually, this is the only reason we have bike parks in the PNW. Cheaper to run the lifts through the summer than to shut them down and set back up after winter, this is the story I got at silver ... more »

Charger 2 and up are significantly easier to bleed than the originals. I nailed it first try which is not usually the case lol, Im thinking just about anyone could pull off a rebuild of newer charger dampers.
