Feels like a rant that was a long time coming. I am not going for popularity on Vital here, any pro ebike comments gets knocked pretty quickly online. I believe pedal assist ebikes are simply not a problem. Sure they are not as fun, most days I agree with that, and that’s why mine hasn’t been ridden even once in...more

You presuppose that the only fitness activity on the planet is MTB.. and that the only fitness activity ALL Ebikers do is Ebike..and, that it is impossible to create fitness or "earn your turns" thru Ebiking-NewsFlash!-You can make most activities difficult. I'm just as tired Ebiking as I've been on a...more

I've been mountain biking for quite awhile now (1988). I've owned many different bikes over the years, DH, Freeride, Enduro, trai, etc. I recently bought an Ebike and I will never go back to a mechanical/traditional mtb.
I've found climbing to actually be creative and FUN now!-having the ability to pop off of...more

Your article was enlightening. I have been struggling to understand the antipathy towards e-bikes and I think you've highlighted it - culture. There would appear to be a feeling that e-bikes don't fit an idealized notion of mountain bike culture and might bring people to the trails who aren't like “us" - who...more

People that ride these bikes like to ride. I bet many people that ride ebikes could crush you on an acoustic antique bike. Variety is good. I own an ebike, gravel bike and acoustic hardtail.

“Most pros don’t ride ebikes” like that’s a fact? That’s ignorant as generalization often is. I can name tow pro riding buddies that ride their ebikes a fair amount, especially pre season. I’m definitely not going to name drop my friends because you have a pre determined belief that you are correct.

Pros only riding ebikes for commercial is simply not true. So
Many pros use ebikes because they’re just fun. They just don’t show it on their daily insta. The Cycling market is driven by Europe and they understand ebikes. This article shows that it’s still a long way to go for the US and especially for US...more

And here I thought most of the e-MTB haters were on Pinkbike...

Aside from whatever laws are in place in certain locations, I don't get why so many people have the need to try to dictate what can be ridden on a mountain, what makes you "part of mainstream culture" or what-not. Does it really bother you so much...more

Seems to me that the whole thing will always be debated, and that's the end of the story. There will ever be consensus, and that's fine.

Just because there are cranks, some people will believe ebikes are mountian bikes. Some people, on the other hand, believe any addition of power will make it a motorcycle. Do...more

Disagree with the stance of this article from an opinion basis, but there is also numerous incorrect pieces of info, I also do not appreciate Vital's choice of image for the lead (Racer guy hammering, and some dude bobbling on a roach emtb with no helmet, no proper attire, etc....that misleads the reader that...more

I'm with David 100%.

Anyone saying "but hard enduro already exists" probably hasn't raced the discipline. There is little question an e-bike with a decade more development will absolutely destroy dirt bikes in the hard enduro discipline. They will have to outlaw them (though the AMA already...more

For sure, make it so that the battery will not last the whole race or close to and the rider has to strategize the battery power VS human input. Make the course consume the battery power.

As long as there is a level playing ground- I don't understand the hate. Make it like a hard enduro motorcycle race (where it's a struggle to finish and keep the bike in one piece). I think the tech climbing sections could be pretty cool.

I live and ride in so-cal, estimated 4m in SD county, 4m in OC, 10m in LA, a lot of people! Unless you ride a trail area on a saturday morning, in one of the most populated places in America, you rarely see people. I don't understand all this "traffic" chatter is about, I don't see it-in so...more

I know it hard for some people to except a new sport, but eMTB is completely different then MTB.
I own a MTB, eMTB and street fighter motorcycle and enjoy riding all of then, but they are all different forms of 2-wheel riding.
Trail access is a issue today in the USA, but that will change over...more
