Downtime podcast did an episode with some of the Magura guys. They explain how important the bedding process is for their brakes, as is with all brakes, but especially so with their pad formula.

This was a great video. I have loved my Magura brakes but just switched to their higher end metallic pad and haven't had the power I need. I don't think I bedded them in fully, just did a few stoppies and went riding. My rotors look a bit glazed after a...more

hhmm friend of mine broke his ankle last year. He wears ankle braces every time he rides for protection. When he was in physio his Doc told those braces have actually been making your ankles Weaker!

I've used a lot of 'dh brakes.' I weigh 215-230 lbs and ride at a high level on steep terrain as a preference. I've never met a brake that didn't fade. I have used 223 rotors for years and just ordered some Hayes....more

I am in my 50s and am still years away from wanting an e-bike. I see them much more as a way to enjoy more miles for anyone who wants to ride harder or longer. I raced with a guy who does all his pre-riding on his ebike, then destroys people on his regular bike at race time. But they are (and this is why I want one)...more

"Different flavors of the same rad entertainment."

But it is NOT the same. Not even close.

Agreed. For people like Paul Bas and Warner, the e-bike is a blessing for getting back to doing what they love and being able to ride with friends again. In crowded towns and cities, the e-commuter has a solid place for eliminating unneeded driving, but has created its own realm of problems. 13yo kids stacked three...more

As a longtime Transition fanboy and a Sentinel owner, I'm trying to not hate this move but it's pretty tough. I keep saying to myself they need the profits from this to be able to continue to produce bikes like a TR11 replacement and other great niche offerings.

But then I look at those cables and go back to WTF!?

I think this is a very cool bike with Geo that is spot on , especially for an E-bike. That said I hate what E-bikes represent. To me it is a cheat code that violates the unwritten ethos of MTB riders out in the wild grunting and improving their fitness in pursuit of a beautiful experience. Nothing pisses me off as a...more

Never got what mentality? That if a brand or company changes their ethos in one's mind eye that they should blindly continue to support? Having had 4 bikes from them spanning over the years, I have thoroughly enjoyed what they have produced. But a change like this, goes against my morals for bicycles in the mountains. Can't NOT mention the environmental disaster that is Lithium mining.
Yes, I know some of the good folks that work there, but considering there are small companies that make their products in house, and are just as rad... Why wouldn't I try something else? GG come to mind, along with a handful of other small(er) brands. I support what I believe in, not just because I can.

As a Spur owner, and potentially a Spire as well, I'm sad to see Transition on the E-bike train. Especially since their release video for the Spur had a whole Tongue in Cheek skit poking fun at E-bikes.

Yep that headset is a deal killer and who wants to zip tie cables on a 10,000 dollar investment.

Any engineers who can make a cheap and quality solution to preventing water dripping in with the cables can probably make a buck.

Well, as a "diehard" Transition fan, looks like I'll be on to new brands in the near future. Super bummed as I know many of the Transition crew. Didn't think this would happen, at least so soon. Also, from my experience in the environmental science world, MOST trails that are hard to get to on federal land are NON Motorized, which includes E-bikes. So, out to ride moto trails then? Lame. Many of my buddies are riding steel full squish brands built here in the US. I know where I will be looking to buy when it's time for another bike. Times, they are a changing

I take umbrage with your water bottle choice.

I read somewhere that ebikes are only fun when you ride with other ebikes. The entry price is going to keep that herd pretty thin.

RIP Transition.

Another formerly cool brand goes casual and succumbs to the E-Bike fallacy. And according to the review, the bike is not even that good.

Also: What the fuck are those prices.
