It's cool that an ebike lets you ride again after an injury and you can have fun again, but you need to understand that you are a bad person for wanting to ride, because you didn't work for your descent (shuttling is an exception, that is super hard ... more »

I also heard it weighs nothing and never breaks.

Wow, frictionless and guaranteed no stiction. They’ve managed to solve problems that no suspension company, for any application, has ever solved.

Added reply in a thread Code R calipers compatible with Shimano rotors 203 mm 7/26/2020 4:39 AM

There shouldn't be any issues, since the shimano website says the rotors are compatible with organic and metallic pads. Since the bike is specced with 203mm rotors from the factory, you should just be able to bolt on the brakes and go.

It's important to understand how and why things work. The early air suspension only had 1 chamber, where you would adjust air pressure. This worked fine, but there was some force at top out because of the air pressure pushing on the piston. To remedy ... more »

It would be sick if you could program in what side you were undoing (drive or non) so it could tell you which way to turn the fucking thing. Such an uneasy feeling undoing tight pedals, no matter how many times i do it...

Added reply in a thread Opinion Needed - 2020 Trek Marlin 5 or Kona Fire Mountain 2019 4/23/2020 12:58 PM

I'd personally go with the kona. The drivetrain has a wider range (595% vs 466%) and is higher-end. The brakes and the cockpit are pretty much the same, but I'd say the kona has better tires. The fork is definitely superior too, because it has wider ... more »

Kind of a controversial opinion.

Looks to be a 200mm postmount and is shown in the 180mm travel variety. Wonder if the will go up to 190. Also the SX 27 has Schwalbe tires but the specs say Ass/Dissector.

What to do when there is no more room in the fork for the negative chamber? Just take some volume from outside the fork! In 10 years we'll be riding with paintball air tanks attached to our bikes.

It is literally impossible to make it work with every negative volume configuration. The equalizing dimple lets the negative chamber get pressurised to the same level as the positive, but the forces are actually different. The negative chamber has a shaft connected to the piston, which takes up surface area and since force=pressure*area, the force is lower in the negative chamber. To compensate, the positive overpowers the negative and the shock extends. This leads to a small drop in positive pressure and a fairly big increase in negative pressure. The issue is that how much the pressure increases depends on the amount of volume - a big neg. chamber will ramp up slower, meaning that the point at which the forces balance is different than with a small neg. chamber and you would have to move the dimple when changing air volume to have the forces balance at the same place everytime.

Volume reducers make the biggest impact on the last 25% of the spring curve (right before bottom out), whereas negative chambers make their biggest difference in the first 25% of the spring curve. So the shock with more volume reducers will have lower pressure and...more

It sucks that Maxxis DH tires only come in Maxxgrip, even the Dissector. I think the ideal combo would be maxxgrip front, maxxterra rear. Too bad you can't get maxxterra in dh casing. I really hope the Dissector gets a dh/maxxterra combo to work well ... more »

OTT is your negative spring. The idea being you can preload it to simulate a larger negative and add air pressure to get midstroke support
