Added reply in a thread Are Global DH Bikes Sales Falling? 10/23/2020 9:15 AM

I have to say, this was maybe true a few years back, but nowadays dh bikes are not really more durable than big enduro bikes. In my experience rims dent easily to the point they can't hold air anymore, brakes pads get worned fast, suspensions need frequent ... more »

I think the rule has never been actually enforced, has it? Fayolle won a WC with a one off shock and nothing followed. "Production" rules are silly in dh racing whatsoever.

When we talk about how many dh bikes are sold (let's say in a year) compared to the past we have to account for different things: numbers of bikes sold and rate of dh/enduro bikes sold by manufacturers (I'm talking about enduro because those are the ... more »

I think Mark Wallace has always experimented with a coil fork, using progressive springs. A few months ago I saw an ad on PB buy and sell, where the Owner of Dumbar cycle (not sure if I remeber right) was selling his bike with a converted coil fork. ... more »

Come on Vital, give us an interview with marshy. He is one of the most established guy on the circuit for us folks!

Added reply in a thread UCI DH Rule Unclear - DSQ for Riding Over a Course-Marking Pole? 10/17/2020 8:00 AM

Can someone post a screenshot of the rule? To add to the confusion, I must say I think that the rule about reentering between the same pole was written with other scenarios in mind. I think it was meant to prevent people crashing/riding offtrack (I mean ... more »

Rob Warner might have just talked BS for the sake of rumors, I think Hart would want to ride some proven equipment (and probably stay with fox) and Cube nor Polygon are at the moment. We'll se what future brings. As far as Syndicate is concerned, I don't ... more »

I haven't checked the results yet, was he actually DQed? He didn't just ride over the pole, which would make the call difficult, his back wheel went over it making him ride outside of the pole. BTW the call in this situation is made worse by the fact ... more »

I don't see him joining an existing team, I guess he'll follow Gwin's steps.

These new high pivot horst bikes are interesting for sure. The instant center can move around quite a bit so it will not always create a rearward axle path. Nonetheless, this seems a good way to put the good carachteristics of both design in one frame. ... more »

On a side note, anyone got any ideas why the Giant dh team riders are not using the prototype bike they raced with last year? They are back on the old glory. I wonder if Giant will pull out of dh racing.

Given how meticolous he is preparing for this race I wouldn't be surprised if he ran some electronic unobtanium lockout after testing it all year long. What if it is something like Fox's live valve? It might come in handy on this track. The cover and ... more »

Oh ok. I have to say I have never really felt a lot of pedal kickback on my 27.5 wilson, but I can't compare it with other bikes. On the topic of antisquat, I admit I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how an idler affects it, but I guess for a dh bike ... more »

Added reply in a thread MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation 10/8/2020 9:16 AM

Well I really wouldn't consider the current wilson an high pivot bike, the axle moves forward for the majority of the travel above sag. BTW, you are right, you can get a rearward axle path with a horst link or a dual link design (which are actually pretty ... more »

Thanks guys, now I see it. So this is a true high pivot bike as far as wheel path goes, but with the braking tunability of an horst link. Really nice, I always wondered why Devinci didn't go for an high pivot on the current wilson. I wish they would ... more »

Beauty. Is it a single pivot? Looks like the rear pivot is on the chainstay/swingarm, but I can't really tell

I'm not sure it was posted before, but here's a better photo of the new cube dh bike they've been using since this winter. Looks nicer than I thought.

So will norco release 2 bikes or was the double crowned bike we all saw a super enduro being thoroughly tested?

That millyard bike is amazing. It was and still is innovative. I'd love to own one with updated geo and a 29 front. I' m really looking forward to the video about the shock and fork. From this vid it looks like the rebound is out of wack, but it's hard ... more »
