8 months is to be expected with no issues. What about a 2 year review? Oh yeah there will be something new and fresh costing frothy mouthed mtb enthusiasts to spend all there money again and again and again. Pie plate 5lb cassettes are overrated. My legs are moving fast but my bike is moving well...more

Been working on bicycle disc brakes since 1994, I’m pretty good at it. Not to say it’s impossible that I’m doing something wrong, but unlikely. I’ve even taken the brakes off the bike, hung them vertically, lever on top, bled them multiple times, ensuring everything correct, only to have issues return...more

Holy crap, I thought I was going nuts. This was on a 2 month old XT M8100 RD. When up shifting, it would seem to get stuck every now and then. It just wouldn't drop into gear unless I shifted again. Thought maybe I had bent my housing, crud got in the housing, indexing was off or whatever. I checked...more

I would be interested to see how they fare after being greased in the long term. Maybe the are dry from the factory (which is weird), but I was assuming they were greased since they were in the past. I haven't actually opened a new one, but I will soon. I still think the amount of moisture that makes...more

late to the game but curious about potential XTR mech issues. I wouldn't mind going from long cage + 10-51 to mid cage + 10-45 and XTR is the only mid cage in the lineup. Currently on SLX 12.

On the flip side, unless you're tail-whipping trail bikes, do we really need super short seat tubes? I may be biased, but as a tall rider, I'll take all the seat tube length I can get.

But I need a 400mm dropper post.

Punk in drublic much? Colnago hasn't made an MTB in decades. Ibis hasn't had any presence in road or xc racing in the present century either. Ibis does not even make an XC or road racing bike. BMC is the comparison you are looking for: road bike company that tries to sell MTBs to...more

If you look at their whole line and how they touch geometry over the time, it's a painfully slow process. Canyon was never a progressive company when it comes to geometry and I think one reason is who was buying their bikes in the past.

The stumpy evo has a short insertion depth, which negates the benefit of their short seat tubes.

that's a good question. while shorter than before, the stumpy evo has a 425mm length on their S4 size compared to the 460mm on our large spectral 29.

I wonder why it is that the major direct-to-consumer companies are struggling to sufficiently shorten their seat tubes. I know their suspension layouts involve kinks/linkage relatively high on the seat tube, but other companies have worked around that constraint.

have you had a bad experience personally with canyon? if so, post it here, we don't care and that would help others decide for themselves about buying from canyon. if you're only reading comments to back up your view of canyon having issues, then that's up to you. we are not...more

Are you saying then that the warranty issue that has been discussed in the forums and comment section as a "non issue' for this bike? Since this review/preview is for potential buyers, i just think it would be helpful for us to know the whole deal.

It's almost funny how vital used so may words mention the warranty issue and yet still not hit the line, almost like going around in the chicken line. This is not PB, i was hoping the vital would be a lot more straightforward with it, as it has been the biggest issue with Canyon.

Can’t speak for the newer trail bikes from Canyon, but my aluminum 19 Sender is the most fun DH bike I’ve had in many years. And I’ve had zero issues with it. *knocks on wood.

Edit: this is a 2018 bike: small water bottle, room for a <175mm dropper, and 6" of seat tube above the top tube. It's amazing that a company that can design a road bike that is arguably the best performance-per-dollar machine on the planet has failed on their *entire* mountain...more
