The value rating was intended to be for the whole range of the Trance X. This $8500 model gets you some things you can’t find under $10,000, namely FOX Live Valve (and carbon wheels). The Advanced Pro 29 1 at $5,400 model has great suspension and drivetrain parts for the...more

That $5400 build seems to be the value to me...

The 3K aluminum version is pretty sweet, might get it for a trail bike next year.

$8500 and 5 star value? I know, I know, top of the line components. Just shows how subjective everything really is. 5 star value, to me, has to be reserved for the bikes that offer race worthy performance around $3K (or less). Suggesting otherwise just shows how deep we...more

Forgive me for not wanting to google this idea but just to throw it out there..

I would never say I'm going "enduro riding", even though I'm on a Norco Sight with 8" rotors, DH/DD casing tires, pointing downhill and wearing a full face helmet. I'd say I'm going trail riding....more

@sspomer Has there been a notable shift in demographic properties from the response-group throughout the years or has this remained somewhat similar? Curious if Vitalmtb attracted a different (or larger) audience then the years before and how that affected certain outcome data.

The best part is ebikes are under "non mountain" bikes owned.

I love the big move to seat up and casually pedaling away transitions.

Tallboy 4 - "The Covid Custom"

Awesome bike and build. I’m considering swapping my 150mm alu frame for this next season and seeing how far I can push the Tallboy with a 140 fork.

wow. all those sounds make me happy. well, except maybe for the hubs (sorry i9!). digging my Project321 w/ silent pawls. run em a little low on oil and you still get a nice audible and soothing high engagement sound. swarms of angry bees need not apply. nice edit!

Jim did you have the older version of the tires? The old TRS that was on YTs had smaller center knobs and absolutely massive cornering knobs. They were kind of a random tire but worked 'just ok' for me as a front. Now I'm seeing minions on the Jeffsy.

I'm on the A/T trail (f) and S/S enduro (r) and am liking the front tire better than the prior version. The combo works well with the obvious caveat that if you're riding super loose terrain things can get very interesting very quickly with the semislick.

Next year I'm keen to try the Kenda Helldiver semislick rear w/ Gwin's new tire on the front or the Hellkat.
