Added a comment about feature RockShox Unveils 2020 Suspension Lineup, Charger 2.1 Damper and the MegNeg 4/8/2019 6:46 AM

Charger 2 Pikes didn't start showing up on new bikes until the latter part of 2017. On one had it's good that Rockshox responded quickly to the market as people complained about some characteristics of the Charger damper and also aftermarket companies like Vorsprung and Push became popular for the Pike. On the other hand, it sucks for people like me who spent $240 on the a new Charger 2 damper only for it to be upgraded a year later but that's the way things to in this industry.

so Charger 2 needed a redesign after a little over a year of being on the market? I guess it makes sense since my retrofitted RCT3 fork doesn't feel significantly better with the Charger 2 damper.

Added a comment about feature 7 of the Best Lightweight Full Face Helmets | Vital MTB Roundup 2/6/2019 9:20 AM

I've tried the Giro, Leatt, and the Proframe. The Giro wanted me to remove my ears anytime I'd put it on. The Leatt felt good but the chinbar is flexy and sticks out way too far. The Proframe is what I kept and it feels good although I wish it had an internal fit adjustment system. I wanted the Met for a long time but the place I could find it was ebay and it just looks antiquated now compared to the other helmets.

The most shocking info for me was to find out that Maxim magazine still exists.

Sick riding and kit, but LOL at using a full face and goggles in Florida.

Hilarious all the 'outrage' expressed by some of the people commenting. In their head they're probably picturing Jared and Richie getting out their blood bags at every liaison and shooting up with Super Soldier Serum before the start of every stage.

Completely agree with you. They did a dress rehearsal of doping control, and now the results are being interpreted in the same vein as Armstrong or Froome as if the EWS has had an established doping control program for years. It's unfair to Graves, Rude, ... more »

Added a comment about feature What Do Riders Think? Eight Half-Shell Helmets Reviewed by Vital MTB Members 10/23/2018 11:52 AM

I've had to keep buying pads for my Montaro because they keep falling apart; I'm shocked that wasn't listed as one of the negatives for this helmet. I don't have a 6D because of weight, and because it doesn't fit my head well. I've had an A1 as well, but the helmet that I like the most is the Forefront. The Montaro gets plenty of ride time and just works, but the Forefront is the one that I'm glad I have.

Added a comment about press release Year-Round Lift-Served MTB in Texas Coming Soon at Spider Mountain 9/27/2018 3:12 PM

MTB in Texas has grown significantly in just a few short years. It used to be all race hardtails and short travel trail bikes out on the trails, and now you'll find a good mix of just about everything. This is no doubt due in a big way to all the grassroots efforts (clubs, race organizers, trail builders, riders, lbs, etc.) that have all moved the needle in the same direction for the sport to grow like it has in a place not traditionally associated with mountain biking.

Added reply in a thread Transition Smuggler vs. YT Jeffsy 6/12/2018 7:40 AM

Bang for the buck, you can't beat the YT IMO. If easier access to warranty support and actually carrying a water bottle are important then I'd go with the Transition. YT can take a while but you can get a hold of someone within 24hrs and once you establish ... more »

Maybe he can come back to GMBN since they just expanded into 3 different channels so I'd think there are plenty of hosting opportunities.

Damn, Trek and/or Athertons must have a cut-throat contract. He didn't do great, but he did better than some riders on the circuit on factory contracts that don't even make it to the race on sundays. Wasn't he running the 29er from early on in the season? ... more »

I'm not cool with the pic of Bryceland Spomer. Never thought you'd post that up. Can we ditch that?

Added a comment about feature Vital MTB's The Inside Line Podcast - Episode 8, Jose Gonzalez, Director of Suspension Development, Trek Bicycles 4/27/2017 10:38 AM

Another great episode. Don't agree at all with the way Trek thinks about bikes and there is a reason why I'm not drawn to any of their products. Sounds like these guys would love for every bike to have proprietary and frame/model specific parts so that you have to buy a complete bike anytime that there is a change. Not a sustainable business model IMO.
