My OCD would appreciate the DM stem for just that reason.
What are the chances MRP is going to make a notched/splined/oblong steerer tube for a single crown with an accompanying stem to never worry about alignment??? I'm available for hire, Noah!

I rode my Firebird like that for most of the season (with the Bartlett), it was rad. You can gain a bit of travel and a lot of stiffness without affecting geometry. Plus, direct mount stems are the best thing ever for people who can't align...more

I build it for the bikepark.
I've always been a fan of simplicity and for what I'm doing with this bike I don't need either so I thought it would be cleaner, simpler, lighter and more original without them.
Also the cockpit is a dream without all those levers.
