Reply to Would You Pay to Watch More World Cup DH on Red Bull TV? 6/3/2019 12:28 PM

In terms of Redbull TV, I have heard that this part of serious media play and long-term strategy decision. Whether we like it or not, every company with disposable cash is getting into the media business. The ease of distribution has enabled everyone ... more »

Given that there are points on the line for Qualis I think there would be decent viewership here and worth an extra fee. I do wonder about logistics though. What is the gap between riders at qualis? I believe its pretty tight which would make filming ... more »

I also think the lighter frame and, potentially wheels, allow them to have heavier parts in other areas and stay at a weight they want. Who knows, they may also be fucking with us.

I heard that at the request of Jordi at Fox that the Syndicate needed to have a mechanic solely dedicated puzzling. Apparently, Jordi wanted an extra resource to spend more time deep diving on adjustments. Guess Greg simply didn't twist the knobs enough ... more »

I heard all this Syndicate banter is that they're dropping CLIF as a sponsor and picking up Kendall Jackson. Rumor is that there will be a signature Greg Minnaar pre-race red blend (some sort of Pinot Noir/Syrah combo) and Syndicate post-race sparkling. ... more »

I want to see internet engineers be more condescending to the actual people who make bikes. It's the best... In all seriousness improving tire casings. Lighter tires with strong sidewalls (i.e DH casing strength/durability) would be awesome.

Hey Joe - Thanks for the response. Makes sense and good to know. Best of luck next season!!

I'm just tossing out an number... Let's not freak out. I am also looking at that money as total spend for the team which includes riders, manager, mechanics, physio, travel, food, vehicles, and other logistics. It's probably not that far off for the ... more »

No doubt its a marketing play for the brands... I was more saying the Syndicate, for example, gets $1.0m in revenue from Sponsors (i.e. SC, Fox, etc.) but the team spends $1.2m between travel, salaries, etc. and Roskopp just picks up the tab on the difference ... more »

General team question: My understanding is the Syndicate is Rob Roskopp's team right? SC along with everyone else sponsors that team (obviously the connection with Rob and SC makes that a extremely tight relationship). I am guessing Rob doesn't have ... more »

Makes sense. Gwin proved that YT's are capable of winning a WC and the WC overall. YT got what they needed out of the arrangement. No need to pay the most expensive guy on the circuit anymore when they have the market validation they sought - not just ... more »

Maybe the Athertons are having a harder time getting paid what they want from the larger companies. In other words, the Trek, Spec, etc. of the worlds think they are past their prime. Whether that is fair, true, or rachel is thinking about retiring is ... more »

Completely agree with this comment. With Mercedes in the game, I wouldn't be surprised if other car companies don't want to feel like they are left behind. I feel like car marketing has a total lemmings affect. I'd also add that sponsoring a WC bike ... more »

Rems brings up some good points. As someone who is in the testing world (not specifically doping), the testing is not perfect and there is always a chance for errors which is why regular testing with A and B samples is really important. This is really ... more »

Stiks probably has a better sense of the financial stakes at play, but if getting access to some drugs cost even a couple thousand for a rider to hit some bonuses that are worth 10K, 20K, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if some riders did it.

If you really come up short on a gap, you are going to blow through the suspension on pretty much any bike. I normally set my suspension up with a little "oh shit" room at the end but we are talking a few millimeters for larger hits to flat.

What about the SC 5010? I think that bike would be great for the type of riding you are describing
