Damn... Amazing riding and an awesome track. If only someone built a track like that in the states...

Ugh. Kind of wish I didn't watch that. Hope he is ok
So are Sven's other site shots good natured ribbing or does he have some beef? #squidrumors

The EWS is a good example. People on both types and whatever suits their style/preference. Spec and Yeti are good examples - SB6 and SB5.5 and Enduro and Stumpy (Keene v Graves). Are more options a good thing? I find that whatever bike I am more comfortable ... more »
Sure, but you're very unlikely to do well if you stall on any wheel size.
Part of my wonders if the 29er is faster simply in that it allows a little bit more room for error rather than a track type. The whole a "29" must be faster on this type of track," I think is more based on the stereotypes around wheelsize than anything ... more »
One of the best things about MTB racing (XC and DH) is the lack of regulations on the bikes from the UCI. The lack of regulations is what makes MTB racing what it is, and has allowed this sport to evolve with different types of bikes, suspension used...more
Part of me wonders if all this and that about the tracks and wheels is really just a manifestation of how the riders are just bored racing the same tracks year and year out. Honestly, only 1 or 2 tracks should repeat and there probably shouldn't be any years where a track is used three years in a row... FT. Bill is great, but there aren't any other great tracks that could be used in the UK? I think there would be a lot more excitement about Ft. Bill, MSA, etc. (the classics) if they were every couple years. Val di Sole is rad, but some of the luster/legend is that it comes and goes.

Hahaha. I do. But I don't nearly look as concerned as Greg does when I do...

I couldn't tell you, but I'm just glad they showed it. If there was one thing I wanted from this episode, it was a Marshy rear wheel slam. They more than delivered!!
Can we get Greg and Marshy to go over the "pick up the back wheel and throw it down suspension test?" How often is it done? What % of the time is Greg unhappy with it?

Hearing Greg saying this is the bike I should've been riding 15years ago is just how I feel seeing these beautiful big wheeled flying machines!
And let's get Mr Peat on one maybe for a BDS run or a Masters UCI race there's a lot of win left in that man...more
Yeah. The flat thing is interesting. You'd think these guys would run more on the side of not wanting to flat than push the envelop. More air? I mean I got sick of flatting my rear all the time, so I run 5 more PSI than I ideally want to. Not the best, but better than flatting and denting rims...
In DH it's little easier to keep track of the rocks that can cause you a problem becuase its easier to remember the details of the track. I feel like you have more "oh shit" moments over a 9 stage race where you'd want an extra level of safety

Laughed so hard at the pinkbike burn. Brilliant.
Another great slideshow guys. Thank you
Hey Guys, thought I'd add a few comments on the technical details of the bike. The upper shock hardware is designed with an inner sleeve (small part #7), like a thru-axle front hub, to prevent binding if the upper shock bolt is over-torqued. I've attached a photo of the...more
^^ Surprised the UCI isn't all about the commissionaire at the finish to grease an extra 20K in fees for hosting a WC
If we are going to say we need different classes, then Spomer are you saying that 29ers so much faster that you can't have a fair race? I fee like the 250 v 450 argument is that a race between the two bikes is that it's simply not a fair race so you ... more »
no need to yell. slideshows will be used for the rider trackwalk, practice, quali and race days like usual. when there is no audio, there won't be a slideshow. @cravks, the slideshows have the "one page" format option at the top of the page, too, so you can scroll if you prefer. i personally love this...more

I think the takeaway from the podcast for me was bike setup and the interplay with riding style is that it's too complex to lend itself to simple if/then advice.
