Ughhh...... to stay current, I don't know whether to get Transitions SBG or Trek's through shaft shocks....

Added reply in a thread Changing the race format? 7/11/2017 7:39 AM

I think the only change that should be made is the timing of the races with 24 hour notice on account of weather. For better or worse, the main event is the Men's DH. The organizers should have the ability to change the order of what category races when ... more »

Jeff - Agree with you that is nothing wildly new. I am thinking with people going back and forth on the whole 29 thing that some of these teams just got some parts and slapped some new wheels on, while SC and Intense put a lot more thought into the overall ... more »

Slightly off topic and combining two posts, but I couldn't help thinking after the transition article, which was great BTW, that have teams like the Syndicate or Intense been exploring the whole offset piece with their forks (maybe why they seem more ... more »

I think the takeaway from the podcast for me was bike setup and the interplay with riding style is that it's too complex to lend itself to simple if/then advice.

The EWS is a good example. People on both types and whatever suits their style/preference. Spec and Yeti are good examples - SB6 and SB5.5 and Enduro and Stumpy (Keene v Graves). Are more options a good thing? I find that whatever bike I am more comfortable ... more »

Sure, but you're very unlikely to do well if you stall on any wheel size.

Added reply in a thread Should There Be a 29er DH Class and 27.5 DH Class at World Cups? 6/7/2017 12:56 PM

Part of my wonders if the 29er is faster simply in that it allows a little bit more room for error rather than a track type. The whole a "29" must be faster on this type of track," I think is more based on the stereotypes around wheelsize than anything ... more »

One of the best things about MTB racing (XC and DH) is the lack of regulations on the bikes from the UCI. The lack of regulations is what makes MTB racing what it is, and has allowed this sport to evolve with different types of bikes, suspension used...more

Part of me wonders if all this and that about the tracks and wheels is really just a manifestation of how the riders are just bored racing the same tracks year and year out. Honestly, only 1 or 2 tracks should repeat and there probably shouldn't be any years where a track is used three years in a row... FT. Bill is great, but there aren't any other great tracks that could be used in the UK? I think there would be a lot more excitement about Ft. Bill, MSA, etc. (the classics) if they were every couple years. Val di Sole is rad, but some of the luster/legend is that it comes and goes.

I couldn't tell you, but I'm just glad they showed it. If there was one thing I wanted from this episode, it was a Marshy rear wheel slam. They more than delivered!!

Can we get Greg and Marshy to go over the "pick up the back wheel and throw it down suspension test?" How often is it done? What % of the time is Greg unhappy with it?

Hearing Greg saying this is the bike I should've been riding 15years ago is just how I feel seeing these beautiful big wheeled flying machines!

Yeah. The flat thing is interesting. You'd think these guys would run more on the side of not wanting to flat than push the envelop. More air? I mean I got sick of flatting my rear all the time, so I run 5 more PSI than I ideally want to. Not the best, but better than flatting and denting rims...

In DH it's little easier to keep track of the rocks that can cause you a problem becuase its easier to remember the details of the track. I feel like you have more "oh shit" moments over a 9 stage race where you'd want an extra level of safety
