I agree this predictability things is a big deal, but this appeared work incredibly well for the first go.

I wonder if in the future they will offer more a "gravity" setting where more emphasis is placed on the angle of the bike (i.e. going down) and have more of delay towards flat/uphill settings in their algorithm.

iceman, I have experienced the same type of longevity as you mentioned here. One thing I did notice when I had a pair that lasted around 14-16 months of riding is that I think the stiffness of the shoe became a little weaker but at that point the shoe had really been through the ringer.
