Additional Info | Designed this bike during the lockdown. Geometry is about the same as the first one. Has multiple shock mount positions to change the leverage curve. Maybe I can find a sweet spot for the EXT Storia before sending it back for a retune. Tried saving a little bit of weight this time while also changing the bearings to the larger 6903s. I'm not an overly aggressive rider so hopefully the bike will be strong enough. Dual bottle cage mount don't get in the way of pedaling. The mounts on the top tube are for a frame and feed bag but is the standard bottle cage spacing so I can put lots of water bottles if so desired. It's a downhill bike packing bike lol. Haven't actually ridden the bike. Will update once I do. |

looks like a trials bike with a DH fork...
I had no idea a patent prevented you from making something for personal use. Interesting...

Just a heads up to my fellow hobbyists.
I received this message from hmcleay
Hi Lan,
Congratulations on your latest frame build. That's super impressive; the welds look AMAZING!
I just wanted to touch base with you to let you know that having the idler pulley mounted on that separate link like that would technically infringe on some patents that I have. You've probably come across my 'i-track suspension' technology already (especially since it shows my logo in the Linkage software too).
Don't worry, I'm not going to get 'legal' on you. I'm totally fine with people experimenting with it for personal use.
However, if you did intend to start making frames like this for sale, then we would need to discuss a licensing agreement.
How long was your lockdown?! Super impressive to pull this all together in a few months (?). What country are you in?
Looking forward to your ride report.
Cheers,
Hugh McLeay

This recalls to mind the incident where Kavenz Cycles had to change their idler location from being on the chainstay to being concentric to the lower pivot.
I wonder if putting the idler on the main frame is patented. Anyone knows?

Not the Shore but the unreleased one but I could be wrong and it's mounted to the pivot
The Devici protototype definitely is though

Yeah that's just it a flipped horst link. It's to lower the anti-rise values.
Yeah, similar to the Devinci Wilson and Antidote Darkmatter but the rocker link on mine doesn't pivot around the BB

Titanium is the best looking frame material, change my mind.
@_Lan You're not worried about your fabricator selling your design on aliexpress?

I'd rather they not, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
I'm all for seeing bikes get developed further, there's nothing particularly unique to the way I located the pivots. Maybe for the look of the bike you can say it's uniquely mine but then again I did get inspiration from other bikes like the Norco Aurum HSP and the Rocky mountain slayer.

I too am a downduro kind of guy. I have made an old devinci wilson into a downduro. I call it Frankenvinci Wilsonstein.
Dropper post, 11-36 cassette, 28t chainring. Made it into a 27.5f 26r mullet. I'm 5'5" so 26 inch wheels work well for me. No way to attach a bottle though

Thanks. It looks even better in person according to some mates.
Only brushed a few times while sprinting otherwise it's like they're not there
