Norway is beautiful. I would love to ride that first trail and stay in that little cabin. Anybody know the name of that first trail?

Matt Dogg-
Yes I think the Stumpy EVO is too DH oriented for a trail bike. Because its so long, low and slack and heavy it does not climb well and the bike needs steep and fast trails to come alive. I don't really get what category this bike is trying to fit into. If I am going to ride steep, fast and chunkier trails I am going to ride a bike with more travel than the Stumpy Evo. The trails that I see this bike excelling on are smoother but very fast bike park trails where you want a bike that can pop off jumps but need the extra stability. Ive ridden the sentinel as well and both feel very similar but I think the sentinel is going to have the edge just due to having a 160 fork.

I recently test road the S2 and S3. I’m 6’ and can say I could get along with either size. The S3 is big but I managed just fine. Loads of stability. I ride a 2018 Scott genius and compared to that the stumpy evo doesn’t climb near as well. Downhill the evo is awesome but honesty it’s not a good trail bike overall. I would get the ransom over the stumpy evo hands down. And definitely prefer the genius to the stumpy evo.

According to Scott you can fit a shock with a piggy back and even a coil shock will fit as well. You would be negating the main selling point of this bike by doing so. Although putting a coil on could be rad!

How much difference in performance was there between the stock Nude shock and the Super Deluxe?

Iceman, great review! I am looking for full face protection on my everyday trails. How much am I sacrificing with the TLD Stage interms of comfort when climbing compared to an openface half lid? I am on the fence and paying $300 is a large investment with out being able to demo the Stage. Thanks for your exta input!

Does the 2018 Link on the 29er increase the progression of the rear shock? I would love to put it on my 2017 29er if it makes it more progressive.

I appreciate the beeped out profanity when I watch these vids with my young kids. Yes, they’ll eventually swear like the rest of us, but all in due time.

The bottom of this trail was the first trail I started to ride when I first got into mountain biking over ten years ago. Man I miss living in Salt Lake City. Will definitely ride it this summer if I make it back for a visit.

I second the wheelset weight question and what's the cost of the Cinch power meter?

Vital is killing it. Comparing this article to counterparts on other websites, this is just so much better. Loving the multimedia aspect. Seeing the trails discussed in detail in the review is sick.

Steve, not sure if you have riden the new E29 but could you comment on the differences?

I rode the last gen E29 for nearly 3 years and really liked that bike but I felt like it was time for an update. It was too small (I rode a large and im 6') and the HA was a bit too steep. The 2017 E29 is way better in all regards except for reach. Its stiffer, better rear suspension, and slacker. I test rode it at bootleg and it felt awesome.

Now the Norco Range comes along and it has all the geometry numbers I am looking for. The reach seams perfect being 11mm longer than the E29. But it does have 15mm less travel in the rear than the E29. Both have FSR and I am a fan of that. I'm torn between this bike and the 2017 E29.

I was told by my bike shop that's it's $200 to swap to the charger damper on the yari.

I rode the last generation 29 for nearly 3 years and really liked that bike. That's the longest I've ever had a bike. I test rode the elite 2017 e29 at bootleg canyon and it felt great. It is defiantly stiffer and much more stable at speed then the old one. It made me want to buy this bike again. The only thing that is holding me back is the fact that they should have made the bike just a bit longer in reach and gave it stronger wheels.

What would be rad to see is a long travel 29er comparison. How about that vital?

Added a comment about product review Review - 2017 Evil The Calling from Vital MTB Test Sessions 2/25/2017 9:04 PM

The reach is pretty good for the calling. Longer than evils other bikes. I'm 6' and ride a large following. I do feel it's pretty compact. I wish it had the reach of the calling. I did ride my buddies XL following and I liked the reach but the seat tube was too tall for my 32" inseam. I could not get the seat low enough.
