Please include comparisons in your long term review. Without those tire reviews are absolutely pointless, because every good review reads nearly the same

The RUNT would allow you to run even lower pressure, giving you a more supple ride. The new spring rate also returns the fork to the beginning softer part of the stroke faster than 0 tokens. This makes the fork much more supple as well without losing support.

I do not believe you...more

Appreciate the effort but I'll bet dollars to donuts if you do repeat runs on the same bike you'll see similar time variances. It is foolish to draw conclusions from single-run data.

Are you being facetious? that thing is fucking horrible. It screams "I spend more time ordering color co-ordinated parts online then i ever will riding this"

That sounds like a problem, unless I'm missing something. Are people (non-racers) really going a year between air sleeve services? Regular (15 minutes and free) air can clean/lube makes a huge difference in how a shock feels, and I can do it in my garage ... more »

^^^ This! All I want is a rear rim that won't crack when I land on a rock. I just want to be able to run whatever psi makes the most sense for traction and flats on my trail/enduro/xc onebike. Single wall and I'd think you could also make them cheaper. Also rim companies, please don't make rims wider than 30mm. Tried it, don't like it.

I had Stealth S1 rubber come ungled totally unglued from the sole like floppy clown shoes on Impacts after I let them dry in the sun. Seattle sun, not Phoenix sun, so shouldn't have come undone. It's not just MI6 rubber that was the problem.

In motorized vehicles this is amazing, (and not completely new). In bicycles, I think the big thing we still have to get over is this... "The system can be slightly inconsistent when preloading for a bunny hop, jump, or other trail feature. Depending on the terrain leading up...more

Yup, and I appreciated the review. It's an xc thing for now, that's for sure. They can benefit from it, and xc racers are weird so they'll happily pay. They're already paying some shady doctor more than this for their EPO, so it's a good value.

For aggressive recreational riders, meaning most of us, this is a no-go for now even if you're loaded enough to drive a 4x4 Sprinter conversion van. Anything that makes jumping more dicey that it already is get's a big "hell no!". I'm sure they'll get it dialed in time. That will really suck because I won't have a good reason to rail against it, other than it's electronics and I want to be away from all that crap when I'm riding my bike in the mountains.

Not properly wet and gritty, no. Like you, I'll have to wait until November to figure that one out now...

Added a comment about product review Tested: Kona Wah Wah 2 Alloy Pedal 8/2/2018 2:29 PM

Did you get any months of wet and sloppy riding on these? In my experience, any old pedal holds up pretty well in dry conditions, it's the slop where poorly sealed bearing seals can seize up a pedal in a handful of rides. I've gone away from thin for this reason.

Trying the Vaults now, won't know how they fare until November - though I trust a long-running UK brand to deal well with crap weather. Friends also having good luck with Deity in the wet, but T-macs are pretty well sold out.

Its not a nite-mare for us as a shop, but when the customers do not bring them in on a regular basis for maintenance it becomes a nite-mare! The King hub, as great a company as they are, need 2-4x the love versus most others.

Rode the old Sparty for 2 years. I disagree with this: "The previous bike required large amounts of sag in the 35% plus range to utilize all of the available travel"

At 33% sag it was perfect with the stock air shock. Used all your travel when you really needed it, and felt bottomless and supportive. I wish more bikes were as progressive as the Spartan.

I had the older model Spartan (fantastic bike, just too short), with the same BB height as the current one. It was a little too low. Had to leave it in low because the old Sparty had a steeper head angle than I prefer. My current bike (last year's Patrol) is a wee bit higher, and I like it better.

I'm all for the real world vs. lab testing reviews. Lab tests are junk, they don't mean squat. The real world is far more variable, far more demanding, and takes into account abuse - and abuse is the name of the game for how we actually ride.

OK, we need to get real here for a bit. First of all yes, as we pointed out in the article, SRAM has had quality issues with the Guide family of brakes. The most common problem is the master cylinder piston which has a tendency to get sticky over time, especially in hot weather. In our experience,...more

No kidding. MaxxSpeed and dual compound are both super hard dry-only rubber, unless something changed. These tires had to be scary riding over wet roots or rocks. Something isn't adding up since the reviewer mentioned they're in the PNW. No one around here likes MaxxSpeed rubber. You guys sure that was the rubber compound you tested?
