Added reply in a thread Should There Be a 29er DH Class and 27.5 DH Class at World Cups? 5/4/2017 1:54 PM

In a Dirt interview w/ Martin Whiteley, Whiteley pretty much said the UCI doesn't want to standardize MTB and have a commissaire standing at the finish line with a tape measure checking every bike. This was in regard to when Gary Fisher first proposed ... more »

Added a new video Spoke Tales: Race Against the Weather - WC #1 Lourdes - Season 2 Ep. 3 5/3/2017 2:41 PM

Watch as the team makes their way across the world from the southern hemisphere and meet again in Lourdes, France for the opening round of the UCI DH World Cup.

In the words of GTFR Team Manager Mark Maurissen: Lourdes is a magical place on our calendar! After Rotorua and Tasmania, for the 3rd time in a row, rain came down hard on race day for the team.

Brook enjoyed the true DH conditions Lourdes had to offer! Not scared to let it rip, he qualified 10th, only 3-seconds off of Vergier, who qualified fastest. His confidence grew over the week but rain decided differently…Brook’s final run took place in the pouring rain, creating sketchy and rough conditions, and he took the 63rd spot.

This was Jackson’s first race with the elites. He qualified in a great 46th place. He had a dry run in finals and finished in a 32nd spot! Well done!

Sambo had some unfinished business with Lourdes. He came off hard last year. He worked his way through the week with a solid start of the season; 44th in qualies and 41st in the finals!

Wyn faced a flat tire in the qualifying round. Schwalbe ProCore saved his day keeping some air in the tire and more importantly keeping the tire on the rim! Being a non-protected rider, he focused on not making any mistakes and making it in the top 80 for the main event on Sunday! A couple of little mistakes on Sunday put him back a little bit finishing in 37th!

Added a new video Landshapes: Building Out the Golden Coast with Dylan Dunkerton 5/3/2017 8:19 AM

For the fourth installment of Landshapes, we took the ferry over to the Sunshine Coast to catch up with Dylan Dunkerton. Dylan and Curtis Robinson, his partner in the Coastal Crew, both used to ride for the NSMB team and they've been building and filming innovative lines for years. Known for their fast, smooth riding style and laid back demeanor, their travels have taken them all over the world, but the Sunshine Coast will always be where they're happiest.

Added a new video Dirt Propain Zelvy - Lourdes 2017 5/2/2017 9:14 AM

Our first stop on the World Cup circuit took us to the town of Lourdes, situated in the south of France. The course had been revamped this year and with wide open taped sections line choice was vast. The track was flat out and we had a super weekend. We couldn't be prouder of our 2 junior riders. Henry and George Kerr, who both qualified for their first ever World Cup and were looking pinned all weekend. Unfortunately, the jagged rocks of the Pic Du Jer lead to flat tires for both our elite riders and saw them sitting out race day. However, we had a great weekend and everyone is looking forward to Fort William. We hope to see you there. Be sure to swing by our pits and say hi. Enjoy the edit!

Big thanks to FilmSmithMedia for the additional footage!

Added a new video Tales of The Mob - Episode 1, Lourdes 5/1/2017 2:22 PM

The opening round of the UCI World Cup was turned on its head when the top 10 qualifiers from Saturday were dealt with gale force winds, rain and low visibility as they took to the challenging downhill track here in Lourdes (FRA), which lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. Despite the event being 2 weeks later than last year, snow fell on the track earlier in the week, and the sunny conditions of Saturday’s qualifying made way for very difficult conditions today in the finals.

Added a new video Norco Factory Racing - Lourdes 2017 5/1/2017 12:21 PM

A long winter has gone and the long-anticipated Round One of the UCI MTB Downhill World Cup is now complete.

Gripping action from start to finish in the holy town of Lourdes. With the Norco Factory Racing boys on new bikes, the equipment was in check, the only thing standing in their way was the challenging Lourdes track. Rooty, rocky and hard packed, it wasn't going to be easy.

Henry took to the hill, the stoke was high, loving the trail and bike. All through practice he looked solid but come qualification run and in his nation's jersey, he washed out, putting him out of contention for the big day. A sobering entry to his first elite world cup, showing just how unforgiving the category can be.

Joe was looking super quick, ready for war and eager to get a good result under his belt after some stormers at Crankworx Rotorua. But in his qualification run he flipped the bars just before a big compression and after taking it like a champ rode another 100 foot before ducking out the tape with a dislocated shoulder. A sad start to the season for Joe, who has never not completed a qualification in world cup competition until now. Heal up soon brother!

Sam was feeling good, just excited to ride after being off with a shoulder injury from New Zealand and it showed! Looking loose and fast Sam came through qualifications in 17th place, but eager for more come race day. Race runs came and Sam was looking good, pedaling hard, even in the air! Frenchman Fayolle had set a blistering time, enough to hold Blenki off, with Sam finishing 20th, enough to protect him for Fort Will and sit in a top 20 spot coming into a fresh season. Just a start of things to come for the kiwi.
