Added reply in a thread How Much Reach is Too Much Reach? 8/2/2019 1:54 PM

I have a EVOLINK 176 with a +1º angleset which is why I have 520mm of reach rather than the normal 510mm for a size L. Reach is a good value to let you know how the bike will feel when standing on the pedals. Obviously, you need to look at seat angle ... more »

Different bike brands have different reach lengths for the same size. My Pole EVOLINK is an "L" but with a reach of 520mm it is equivalent to a XXL or XXXL of other brands... Always best to look at the reach and stack instead.

What is the reach on your XL Patrol? I'm 5'11" and have no back problems with a long bike (520mm of reach) what so ever. I find that being more stretched out and riding the bike in the middle/front is less tiring and gives you more control. Plus climbing ... more »

It still surprises me how many pros run short bikes and ride off the back. Glad this new setup is working for him.

Have you tried one? They do make a small and medium size with short reach. I'm 5'11" and have an L with 520mm of reach and have no problem with it!

You can get a Pole with the EXT Storia shock as well. You can't go wrong with a Pole or a Nicolai Geometron both have great geo and great features!

Schwalbe magic mary 2.35 front single ply tyre with procore. It is lighter than previous super gravity plus tubes setup and has more grip because I can run 14-15psi. Rear is currently a Maxxis 2.8 DHRII EXO with cushcore and tube setup at 15-17psi. I ... more »

Crazy heavy? It will add a tad more than 1kg and your bike will ride way better. I am super happy with my Dorado!

Added reply in a thread dual crown fork on enduro bike? 6/6/2019 4:32 AM

Adding a dual crown to an "enduro" bike can be a great upgrade. It adds stiffness and thus precision to the front end. Weight penalty can be 1kg but then "enduro" bikes aren't meant for uphill sprint races are they? Fork options: the older Fox 40 performance ... more »

Dirty Dan cut or not drags more than a Magic Mary. In the article it is stated he has the dirty dan for more grip.

Why are you calling this bike a 69er? Front wheel is 622mm or 24.5" and back is 584mm or 22in. Overall diameter with tire is ~708mm/27.9in backwheel and ~746mm/29.4in frontwheel.

"26in" measures 559mm or 22inches in diameter. "27.5in" measures 584mm or 23in and "29in" measures 622mm or 24.5inches. So yes 650b is closer to "26in". Overall diameter of 650b with typical 2.35in tire aka Maxxis 2.5 is around 708mm which is around ... more »

Finally there is a 500mm reach V-10 (all angles being equal)! Minnaar is getting close to having a bike that fits him after +20 years of riding!

At 485mm overall length it is too long. When slammed the saddle height would be even higher than my current KS (which I already fine annoying). I need to get me a Geometron with a straight seat tube to solve my current problem. 430mm seat tube with a ... more »

If it works for you great but don't assume long, stable bikes aren't fun! I think it is fun to have a bike that can handle anything in it's path no matter the speed, I think it is fun to drift corners, I think it is fun that my long bike doesn't spin ... more »

I have read the other thread about chainstays and again agree with you that short chainstays are rubbish. My bike has 460mm chainstays, 520mm reach but I still had to ride way over the front when I had a 62º head angle when riding flat terrain. I remember ... more »
