Me, circa 2009/2010: hey Maxxis, you should release a shorter version of a mud spike, since many racers cut their spikes and there is really nothing in between an intermediate tire and a deep mud tire.
Maxxis: Nu uh. not gonna happen.
2014: surprise! hahaha...... oh jeeze

So many variables goes into why the UCI chooses a venue to host a WC. There is a lot of criteria that falls outside of track style that determines who gets to host a WC. Many times it simply comes down to lack of choice. Its why Mount St. Anne has hosted a WC event for the past 100 years, not only because its a great track, but also because they have their shit dialed as hosts.

I'm tired of WC racers complaining about tracks not suiting their skillsets. F*ck off already and adapt. Variety is good, and the guys who come out on top at the end of the season are the ones who can ride everything. I can't believe guys like Hill and Brendan still haven't adapted to pedally tracks like others have. You are all racing the same courses after all.

Nico of course. Why is this even an option? Seriously, Nico was so far ahead of the other racers in terms of prep, training, equipment that it took up until the mid 2000's for everyone to adopt the same ideas. Now a lot of the field are really fit and ... more »

Added reply in a thread Why are flat tires something we still see these days?
Again comparing to the moto world, I used to run a Michelin Bib Mousse in my front tire. Its essentially a solid foam tube that is 100% impossible to flat. I ran those for races so I could just smash into stuff without a care about flatting. The downside ... more »

I remember speaking with the guy behind Nuetec TuBliss for motorbikes. He said that for mtb's it was harder to design a similar design of using an inner chamber system because mtb tires aren't structurally rigid..... or something along those lines. I ... more »

Good review. I like having a bolt on axle. I actually don't like qr levers.

I have one in my garage waiting for my frame to be welded. After owning a Vengeance, I am more than stoked to ride this one.
Unlike the reviewer, I prefer a bolt on axle. It takes a little more time but it is way more trustworthy in my opinion than QR levers.

No not yet. My bike is soon to be welded up.... and where I live we still have 6"+ of snow on the ground.
Totally! The ones who complain are the ones who can't compete for the win. Remember when Peat won his World Championship? The amount of whining that some riders did over that track was nauseating, then Peat killed everyone on a full on downhill bike! It was like a big 'fuck you' to those guys who can't pedal. FWIW I like gnar and super steep technical tracks, but that only rewards one type of rider. The season should reward the rider with the best overall skill set.
