And now I've found something new to want...

I'd love to ride one and see how it felt.

The truing was certainly a hassle, but the spokes pulling through the rims was a much bigger problem. This was way back in...'98 or '99.

I had some first gen Spinergy Spox. They were light, fast, sounded amazing, and couldn't hold up to shit. I'm sure they're better now...

Given the White Industries crankset and the line "outfitted in fine detail by legendary Fort Collins bike shop Brave New Wheel" I'd guess that it may be pictured as you can win it. I didn't notice the cranks before my first post. I'd like a better breakdown of what's on it myself.

The pictures of the already-built custom bike here clearly show a cable-actuated GX rear derailleur, but the "specs of this bike" page claim it to be SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS. So, which is it?

That orange is beautiful and I really like the bike, but I'll never buy a PF frame.

I just can't shake the feeling that every in/out due to maintenance makes the fit a little worse.

He did quite a good job of explaining his geometric ideas. I was pleased to see that.

I've long been in the higher rise camp, but even 50mm rise bars are more rare these days. You can still get them from Spank and a couple of others. In addition to always being a fan of being a bit more upright, I wore out my hips through years of riding ... more »

Those look really fun for a 40 mile trail day without absolutely being worked. If I lived near trails like that I'd be interested in trying out an e-mtb. I live closer to the 20 mile rides that I can do without any assist...for now.

I think the primary element for e-mtb adoption will be the fitness aspect. Mountain biking (riding up and down) is hard work and it does take a commitment to keep your fitness at a level where you can consistently get out and have the fun you expect to have.

Come on...it's 90 out and it's too hot to ride? Really?

Glad to hear they're not getting hit too hard. They're local and the Shred Dogg is on my short list of next frames. I just talked to a GG rider last week on the trail and he was really positive about the bike and was running a rear coil like I plan to do.

I'm really glad you did this video and test. I put the runt on my birthday/christmas wish list last year, but of course didn't get it. I have a question though; Do you think a fully tuned air suspension is going to ride better or just be lighter than a good coil setup? It sure sounded like a lot of what Diaz was touting as advances in your suspension capabilities were just trying to get air shocks to ride more like coils.

At this point, I'm just thinking that maybe I need to move on to a full coil setup instead. I had a full-coil Tracer 20 years ago and loved it. The MTB industry went through years of neglecting coils, but now they're getting back to them and there are many good options for coil setups again.

I don't think the Supracush grips are appropriate for my riding. The rotational float can cause some "oh shit" moments if your hands get above the centerline of the grip. Twice on my ride I had my hand get a little high and then the rotational float allowed it to get much higher quickly...to the point that it felt like my hand was going to rotate over the bar. I'll be taking them off.

I've got some of the Supracush on a bike. They're very comfortable with noticeable rotational float(not from the grip moving, but from the surface being that compliant). I've yet to get them on a trail yet, but that will happen later today or tomorrow.

I forgot one thing...gearboxes. I'm really hoping that that's the advance that we see. A gearbox that doesn't have too much drag and gives us a 6x gear range with good steps in between. That would be a great advancement.

Back in 2000 I was telling people that eventually we'd have bikes with six inches of travel front and rear that pedaled well and weighed 30 lbs. That's what we now have...and I'm perfectly happy with that. Bikes have changed a lot in the last 20 years, but they're basically still the same. Some parts have gained more functionality(seatposts) and angles have changed, but advances in things like electronics technology(as mentioned by one person) are irrelevant to me since I see no need to drop cables. I like that bikes are mechanical systems and it's likely that my bike will always be that way. Just like anything else, it gets harder to improve on things the more improvements have been made. People will keep trying though, and that's a good thing.
