What does a Wildrockr2 ripoff that weighs sub 900g say to michelin: "I drink YOUR milkshake. I drink it UP!!!"

wink

In all seriousness, E13 is a fantastic company. I'd love to try those tires!

Your weight numbers are not correct. On Hope's website they say that the 10-40 weighs 273g. The 10-44 will certainly be in the 300g range. The weight difference will be marginal and with the e13 cassette you get the 9t and dont need a special freehub that is only compatible with a hope rear hub.

You should talk to e*thirteen and they will confirm the TRSr competes with the 73mm SixC crank. The Next SL has traditionally been an XC product which has now found its way onto trail bikes. You generally wont see it showing up on EWS level Enduro which is what the TRSr was designed for.

The TRSr is a competitor for the SixC cranks. Not the Next SL XC cranks.

"I've worked in a bikeshop for quite a while and my experience is that most customers either don't know anything about bikes or think they know a lot but don't (which is worse than the first kind) and would buy utter crap without proper advice from someone in a shop."

In part, it is attitudes like this from shop people that in many cases is keeping consumers out of the stores and driving the consumer direct model. I worked 15 years in bike retail and met some people that knew more and others that knew less. Now that i no longer work bike retail but still pop into shops occasionally, the level of customer service frequently (but not always) leaves me wondering less and less why the consumer direct model is gaining steam.

Exactly Todd - Mike Vandeman is a convicted felon for assaulting MTB'ers. He has been threatening bay area mtb'ers and spreading lies for years.

Poachfest. Marin sucks. Stay away. These are not the droids you are looking for.

So that was all illegal trail, right? Never ridden in Marin, but I was under the impression it wasn't that awesome.

@danimal - Moving forward from late 2014 e*thirteen switched over bearing suppliers and updated the BB design. The new BB will long outlast the old ones. As always, they have a 1 year no-questions asked warranty on all bearing products. The issue with the old BB's was mainly inconsistency. Some lasted a LONG time and others not so much. One other thing to note: BB92 systems w/30mm spindle cranks leave very little space for BB bearings. for 2015, e*thirteen is using a new double row bearing that is much better than the old single row. Some of the Hutchinson UR racers were on the same set of bearings for the entire 2nd have of the racing season this year - pressure washes and all.

Iceman2058 - That is exactly why e*thirteen uses the polygon over splined designs. The polygon creates nearly 100% crank/spindle interface and there is no degradation of the fit regardless how many times they are installed/removed. This is not true for splined systems - especially when considering 24mm steel spindles mated with alloy cranks.

The trilobial polygon interface was good enough for wwII tanks, and its good enough for me. It is pretty much the shit, i've had my LG1 off and on at least a hundred times and it still has an audible pop when the crank arm is pulled. It does require more material at the taper than a splined interface...more
