I'm unconvinced. I've unboxed many bikes from many large manufacturers, and I've never found one that can be properly built up & adjusted in ten minutes. Derailleur hangers are rarely straight; cable tension usually needs to be dialed in; brakes often need...more

Actually, all the rampage bikes are 27.5... the only reason you see some riders choosing 26" bikes at the Fest series is because the only thing those bikes need to do is jump and get sideways as easily as possible.

Outside of dirt jumping, 26" is dead my friend

I simply can't comprehend how people can complain about longevity of shoes, when at $150, they are less than the average set of grippy tires. I have gone through a set of tires in a week of racing or riding in Whistler, and well, nobody seems to complain about that. Why is one product at, at...more

Simply put, your expectations of how long a shoe that is as grippy as a 5.10 (head and shoulders above ANYTHING else on the market) should last is out of touch with reality. Comparing the sole grip/wear to tires, a good set of sticky tires (NOT Conti Black Chili) last weeks at best. Of course you can always trade off grip for longevity and go with a harder compound tire, same with the shoes. I bought a pair of the Giro Riddance shoes due to no availability of the 5.10's I wanted and I can tell you that they are going to last a long, long time - I'm not wearing them because the grip sucks compared to a 5.10.

The conspiracy is a joke. Physically the current Shimano based design didn't fit anything lower than a 11t cog without mods. Sure, they could just go larger on the big ring. However, 12 speed isn't just for easier gearing. It's also set up for a larger high gear and...more

Could not agree more about finding the limits of a bike and how much fun that is, that’s why I recently swapped from a Patrol to a Scout and am very happy I did. Great review BT

Added a comment about feature Vital MTB Test Sessions: Five of the Best Long-Travel Enduro 29ers Raced and Reviewed 3/8/2018 6:08 PM

Firstly, killer work Vital crew. This is one of the best bike tests I've seen. IMHO it works so well because of the fairly narrow field of well matched bikes (bruisers) and 2 similarly quick riders, with slightly different strengths. Secondly, it seems a lot of the commenters vastly overestimate how much of a difference there is between the parts - namely suspension and tires. None of it is junk and the geometry/suspension kinematics play a much bigger role than the perceived difference between a modern mid-range to gucci damper does.
