It hard to tell, but it looks like Neko is using the e-bike version of the Quadiem on his bike https://trpcycling.com/product/g-spec-emtb/ I think I remember him running the same setup at some point last year as well. If you take a look at these close-ups ... more »

"IF we can make an insert designed integration, why can't we make a simply better tubeless tire? in my simple mind, i ask that all that weight go into a 175 dollar tire that is FRO. i would never run said tire all season on my little play bike, and it ... more »

That's neat to see. Thanks for posting it. It would be great to be able to get some feedback from Minnaar or Marsh about how that worked for them. Based on the fact their not still using it I'm guessing that maybe it wasn't the end all be all... Having ... more »

Thanks for elaborating on your idea, it definitely makes more sense to me now and its another valid way of looking at the problem. More than anything I was really just trying to provoke discussion. New ways of doing things come about by talking about ... more »

"Considering we are already seeing $100 tires, I'm not sure there is enough room in the market for an insert-based tire. EG: It'd just be too expensive for something you throw away in a month or two due to wear, but I could be wrong." Cost is definitely ... more »

I'm visiting my parents back home in Newfoundland so I get the feeling that I'm posting from a time zone a good bit east of most you. Anyhow, it's cool to have gotten up and see that a bit of discussion has sprung up. Too many interesting things have ... more »

Not really what I'm thinking, but I believe that I did see something along those lines in the coverage from one of the bike trade shows once. My first post was pretty long so I'll see if I can clarify what I'm thinking and pull out some of the main points. ... more »

New thread Do tire inserts mean it's time to rethink tire design? 11/15/2017 10:58 AM

This is just a little side project that I've been toying with, but I've been wondering if with the advent of tire inserts (CushCore etc.) it might make sense to take a new look at how tires are designed. If we conceptualize and design wheels, tires, ... more »

Nice, Thanks for the feedback! Does it feel like it pedals smoothly in the 9 tooth cog?

I don't think that a "best" system really exists. It's always going to be dependant on where you live and what you ride. I live in Nelson, BC where the climbs and descents are usually both steep and long . Around here you need a pretty low gear to grind ... more »

Bar roll seems to be the big one for me. Pretty much straight up and down, if it's rolled back too much it just feels strange! That and brakes. The levers have to be at exactly the same angle to each other and have the same bite point. I've got pretty ... more »

Just to clear up YBO's/Google's translation a bit: "I take that from my years of riding enduro motorbikes. I tried riding with a more traditional setup when I realized that I was the only one at the races with my levers setup this way, but I never managed ... more »

Tough to choose, I want to master it all! Given the option I'd definitely be R Howard in that vid, but there is way more than one skill on display! If it could only be one thing it would have to be railing corners fast a fluidly keeping the tires stuck ... more »

Daaanmm... This season is beginning to like a war of attrition and it hasn't even started yet! A lot of gravity riders, both DH and enduro out before it even begins. I still haven't found any confirmation that Stevie Smith is out again. As a Canadian ... more »

The video of that corner is fascinating. I gotta say that I don't think that corner sucks at all. It would suck if every corner on a stage was like that, but its awesome to see how different riders deal with those kinds of challenges at race pace! The ... more »
