There should be 3 setscrews on top of the shock- you can see them in your photos. The bent one is the smaller one- closest to the rebound knob/lockout lever.

Looks like you bent a set-screw in the eyelet assembly (common issue on that generation of shock). What's happening is the lever (and the damper valve) is now somewhere between lock and open modes and sharp impacts will toggle it to lockout. To fix you ... more »

Interesting strategy- posting pictures well before embargos... Not the best way to keep getting prototype shocks

Have you studied how much weight reduction improves suspension? I'm not 100% convinced that reducing unsprung mass makes the bike go noticeably faster. If we are splitting hairs on descending performance why not chase the lost watts while climbing? I guess you could walk up and coast down with no drivetrain?

Also gearboxes are expensive- and always will be due to machining. You can stamp 90% of the parts in a derailleur or cassette... Can't make a gearbox like that. This is all coming from a big gearbox fan- I made 2 frames with them... but both were terrible. haha

1260g for a 29"x2.5" Dual compound Aggressor DoubleDown (weighed it brand new). Assegai's definitely have more rubber and would be heavier.

I like the added stiffness if only for confidence. Might actually add to arm pump but it feels like you can run into/over anything. And the bigger forks look cool- which is a legit selling point like it or not

Same here- bacons always push out/skid out after a while- I use them to get home or to the car then fix more permanently when in the garage. Was also going to buy a Stans Dart someday but maybe not now... I cut a thin strip of rag (towel is best), tie ... more »

Been super curious about the Eddy Current tires... How long are they lasting? Reno conditions- dry/rocks? What ones did you get? They have 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 options?

Something else to think about- if 1/2 of DH bikes are going to rental fleets- why do the renters have to deal with WC winning geometry? How about this 'rental' spec DH bike with geometry more friendly for a family from Iowa to cruise the green runs on? ... more »

Loïc over the stumps was bananas. For anyone who doesn’t speak French, the quote from the dude immediately following is: ‘Go bring a bottle of champagne to Öhlins. And say thank you. Motherfu....’

I just wanted to stop talking about theoretical maths and bolt one on the bike and ride it. I didn't do any real calculations or anything- I understand the basics of the math but I'm not going to try and figure out natural frequencies of a DH casing ... more »
