The Camp of Champions is blowing up. Literally. The Camp of Champions is blowing up the 365 Sports Big Air Bag all summer in "The Compound". You can now ride at COC from 10AM to 10PM. Like the idea of a foam pit, the 365 Sports Big Air Bag is designed to help riders learn new tricks by having an amazingly soft, safe, landing. The 365 Sports Big Air Bag is enormous so you can attempt any trick you can think of. Best of all you don't use all your energy digging yourself and your bike out after landing like you do in a foam pit. The 365 Sports Big Air Bag is like a stunt bag you see on movie sets for jumping out of buildings, but designed for going big and learning tricks on a mountain bike and BMX bike. It sets the new standard for learning. 365 Sports, The Camp of Champions and "The Compound" have added a whole new dimension to summer camps and riding in Whistler.
Ken Achenbach, the founder and owner of The Camp of Champions, explains; "Ever since I started The Camp of Champions Mountain Bike Camp, I wanted campers to be able to experience what it was like to have amazing facilities right outside their door that they could use at anytime they wanted. Growing up I had a vert ramp for riding BMX in my yard so I know you learn the most when you can ride as much as you want, anytime you want - learning when the inspiration hits you. Having the 365 Sports Big Air Bag as well as the dirt jumps and the mulch pit available for campers any time they want, campers will now be able to ride more, learn more and have more fun during their camp session. Set schedules are for school. If campers have enough energy, they can ride from from 10 AM till 4:30 PM with their coaches in the Bike Park and then from 4:30 - 10PM in "The Compound" when we shut it all down for the night. It's a game changer. You come to a camp to ride as much as you possibly can. Only COC has riding 10 till 10"
Gareth Dyer, The Camp of Champions Head Coach, adds "With coaches like Greg Watts, the 2009 Crankworx Slopestyle Champion, Mike Montgomery, Andrew Taylor, Alan Hepburn, Mike Hopkins, Justin Wyper, Kelly McGarry, and Casey Groves all being such dirt jump slayers, in addition to being really great all mountain riders, we had to add to our facilities so that our coaches could share more of their knowledge with campers, and also have a facility that they could use to step up their game. It's going to make learning new stuff so easy and fun you won't believe it."
The Camp of Champions campers, instead of going to the Air Dome for a total of 6 hours per camp session, can now ride "The Compound" facility 6 hours a day instead. "The Compound" will have, under a 4000 square foot tent, a perfect 40 foot wide miniramp, pool, ping pong and foosball tables, a 2600 watt sound system hooked up to an Xbox and a 60 inch flatscreen for playing Rockband and checking your footage, couches and vintage video games. Just outside the tent, the 365 Sports Big Air Bag, private dirt jumps and a mulch pit can now be sessioned day and night as well. Thanks to The Camp of Champions and "The Compound" riding in Whistler just went up another notch.
